Since the war, the Iranian government has become extremely strict and suspicious. At checkpoints, they take people’s phones and inspect their contents; they even read people’s chat messages. If you have an unfamiliar chat app or an unknown social media application on your phone, you could get into trouble. In Iran, having privacy is considered illegal.
