Day 41: #grownostr initiative Its been a little over a month since I planted the garden. Seeing the first pic i took next to the last is incredible. Its hard to appreciate the growth when you look at it everyday. #gardening #homesteading #growth

Day 40: #grownostr initiative Garden News: The tomato plants are already very tall. They don't seem to have as many flowers as I would expect for plants this tall. Thinking about fertilizing with Dr. Earth 4-6-3. I spotted the first Cayenne Pepper. Any good suggestions for these besides drying? #gardening #homesteading #tomatoes #peppers

I finally took the time to get nostr up and going on my phone. So this is a test post. I had been using nostr exclusively from my laptop--once in the morning and briefly in the evening. Now i can take nostr with me everywhere. #grownostr #nostronthego

Day 38: #grownostr initiative I pulled this Lamb's Ear up from the side of the road while out driving yesterday. I had never seen one before and it caught my eye. Its leaves are so soft...it is appropriately named! I transplanted it into one of my gardens in hopes of propagating more of this cool plant in the future. Does anyone else know more about this plant? image Lamb's Ear (Stachys byzantina) #roadsidenursury #gardening #homesteading #propagation

Day 37: #grownostr initiative I was given four okra plants a few weeks ago but didn't have any space left in my new garden plot so I planted them a small bed that I used last year. Not only are the okra doing great, the mint and parsley I grew last year are coming back too. image #gardening #homesteading #herbs #okra

Day 35: #grownostr initiative We conducted a test of different bedding using pine and corn cob pellets alongside wood shavings. We placed them in the goat pen while it rained and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of water the pellets absorbed. Normally the pen becomes muddy, but with the pellets it turned into almost a soft sand condition. I think both pellets did well, but if I had to pick one I would probable say the the pine did a little better (FYI the wood shavings just puddled up). #homesteading #bedding image

In only one day the tendrils on the cucumber plants have found the chainlink trellis I installed behind it. #grownostr #homesteading #gardening #cucumbers image

I made a trellis for the cucumbers and eggplant with some chainlink and a few t-post I had laying around. We will see how it works. #homesteadhorder #grownostr #homesteading #trellis #gardening image

Day 33: #grownostr initiative Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers our there. I am very thankful for the mothers I've had in my life. Garden News: The cucumber plants are ready to be trellised. This is also the first blossom. image The cantaloupe seeds I planted to replace the transplants killed by the cold are emerging. image The first squash blossom of the year. I didn't really pay much attention, but I think this is a male blossom. Later in the year I will harvest the male blossoms to fry in a tempura batter. image #gardening #homesteading

Day 32: #grownostr initiative The Spinach and Alyssum I sowed last weekend are sprouting. The spinach seed I purchased was on "tape." It made it super easy to plant the tiny little seeds. I just furrowed a row and unrolled the tape and covered the seed with soil. I'm super excited about the Alyssum--it smells so good. I've never used Alyssum as a companion plant, but I am hoping it will attract pollinators. On a side note: I've not seen any honey bees yet--very concerning. #gardening #sprouts #pollinators #companionplanting #bees
