Knotzis a few months ago: it’s amazing we got Ross out of jail, he was in prison for working on bitcoin and open source and that was wrong! Knotzis now: image
GM! You can just upgrade to Core v30 to get a faster and more secure node, and set `-datacarrier=80`if that floats your boat.
Covenants give us vaults, and vaults make Bitcoin strictly safer to hold. Even if you’re a base chain boomer who is only in it for number to up store of value, Bitcoin is strictly a better store of value if it’s harder to steal. And that doesn’t even get into all the other use cases of how Lightning gets way better. Even Luke, to his credit, has talked about how Bitcoin is unfinished and there’s important basic functionality needed. Bitcoin doesn’t magically take over the world. People must voluntarily adopt it and they will only do so if it’s much better than their current options.

Bitcoin is so different from everything else in your life that you just need to learn as much as you can from first principles. Shallow comparisons to other things you are already comfortable with are usually misguided and flawed at best, and more often just 100% wrong. Bitcoin survives as a decentralized and distributed system by its big picture game theory and incentive alignment where adversarial actors who cannot trust each other independently can still trust the protocol. Go to a BitDevs. Stop listening to nontechnical purchasers. If you can’t or won’t read Mastering Bitcoin, please at least listen to old Andreas videos. He was highly technical and understood both the code and the game theory. Almost no one else in the space has had such a nuanced and deep understanding of both sides. Without both you end up with BCash or Solana.
Bitcoin is what the economic majority decides it is. An important lesson of the blocksize wars is that raw node count doesn’t matter. The economic weight behind those nodes does.
