Tried to spin up another Nostr relay yesterday, but kept getting VM errors. Just how beefy do relays have to be these days?

The increasing number of services that allow us to stack sats on lightning (especially p2p) are very helpful for privacy.
I’d wonder, in the long term, how folks are swapping back on-chain in a way that also guards privacy too. Either through loop, bolt exchange, wallets like Phoenix, or something else. Or just forget keep on lightning for future spending?
I know NASCAR Nostr doesn’t yet exist, but I’m legit stoked AF for the Chicago street race

my debut in the Orange County Register on EU’s Digital Services Act:
“With no First Amendment-like protections, we know the censorious demands of European officials will soon swallow entire budgets of US tech firms to comply, money that’d otherwise be used to deliver value for users…
We know that each platform has the ability to moderate or censor as they see fit, but this is usually done by internal policies and codes that users voluntarily accept, not reaction to a policeman holding the regulatory baton.”

My latest article in the Orange County Register:
"The EU's Digital Services Act enforces a litany of expansive restrictions and rules that go far beyond any US regulation: severe limits on targeted advertising, more diligent content moderation to remove what the EU deems “illegal” content, protocols for weeding out “disinformation”, and more.
Considering how much Big Tech has been forced to censor users to appease regulators in the free speech haven of the US, it will only get worse overseas."

Hello have you checked your Nostr DMs lately
Tonight in Vienna, we went to a “live vinyl recording” by the German-Australian-Italian band Amistat — just off stage, there’s a large needle attached to the soundboard that etches the music into a master record. Awesome analog tech in action

Met some fellow québécois for a drink(s) in Vienna. It’s wild to connect again with my home culture after many years abroad. Heimat ist kein Ort, Heimat ist ein Gefühl.
The EU🇪🇺's Digital Services Act is the sweeping rule requiring extra content moderation, limits on targeted advertising, and requirements for mountains of public reports.
17 companies designated as "Very Large". Only one* is European.
EU: Regulation over innovation
What a sad state of affairs

Ma’am, I’m not babysitting. These are my children
I grew up reading Maddox “The Best Page in the Universe” and loved his writing and satire. But since he doxxed himself a few years ago, he’s lost all edge and just become another leftist online comedian.
a Synology NAS really is a game changer. Uploading open source projects via docker is pretty sweet as well. Finance apps, media streaming, etc. I’d have enough space to run a Bitcoin node, but I’ve already got plenty of those synced up at the moment
Originally abandoned my own relay (run on a digital ocean server) because it got too beefy (about 70GB). But seeing how much better the Nostr social experience is with a good relay, I may be forced to spin it up again
So it seems Swan has switched to Fortress as a custodian in several states. Until Bitcoin brokerages get their own money transmission licenses, the risk continues.
Shoutout to podcasting 2.0 madman @Dave Jones, who does not yet have his lightning address set up for unlimited zaps
