These small foil strips are absent in the new rear cover - this car's blind spot monitor system uses these for strips to 'ignore' the bumper. If theyre not in place, the system might 'ignore' the car in your blindspot instead.

A little bit of thw short wave heat lamp (ie. sun of krypton) does some work on a primer spot before sanding. This helps to ensure complete cure of the products under the paint before refinishing. Keeps shrinkage and dye-back at bay.
