I have yet to implement follower counts on NostrOP and I find it somewhat pleasant. When you see an account with 2000 followers, your brain automatically treats this account differently compared to one with say - 2 followers - even though the account with 2 followers may have much more interesting things to say.
So what exactly is the point?
Social proof? Smart bots can collect followers.
I really, really want to do IPFS for image uploads, but I'm afraid 99% of users will end-up using a http proxy. Even sharing your own files (initially) may be tricky, due to Firewall / NAT.
I made the NostrOP UI a little more tight; Some initial work on inline-responses. Much left to do... I'm happy about how responsive it is, on my 5+ year old Android.
Today, Apple could brand Nostr a right-wing / covid-denier / child-porn / ... network, and do a rug-pull on all users with iCloud backups. Nobody would give a shit.
Try Little Snitch, or do a traffic dump.
Be amazed.
I have an iPhone for development purposes; Almost every time I update the device, I have to agree to a new 1000 page agreement - How does anyone in this community use Apple products?
Like to sell your soul, to get updates?
What I don't get about vegetarians, that eat plants for the sake of animal welfare - what about plant welfare? We understand next to nothing about plants, and based on the lack of knowledge, we've come to decide, that it's better to kill plants, because they are less relatable?
