Robert Anton Wilson & Genesis P-Orridge - Infinity Factory Interview (1997) Interviewer: Richard Metzger image Richard Metzger: 'From early 1997 to sometime mid-1999 I had a talkshow called The Infinity Factory that was produced at Pseudo.com (founded by Josh Harris of 'We Live in Public' fame), the increasingly legendary “Internet TV Network,” creative madhouse and party central of downtown New York during the high-flying Silicon Alley dotcom years. The Infinity Factory was taped every Sunday evening at 8pm with a few exceptions. It was produced by Vanessa Weinberg who also DJ’d and mixed the show live. Vanessa was extraordinarily in tune with how the conversations were flowing and added an intricate bed of trippy music, samples and sound loops under what were often extremely psychedelic conversations to begin with—like this episode, with Robert Anton Wilson and Genesis P-Orridge. This show dates, I think, from Fall of 1997. When it was originally netcast it was when most people still had 56k modems and the video quality was fairly awful. Don’t get me wrong, it was pretty cool to be able to do something like this back then and there was a real “pirate radio” aspect to it as well that greatly appealed to me, but in truth it looked more like flickery animation than it did actual video. And it was the size of a postage stamp. There were probably well over 100 shows, each of them around 50 minutes, but I really can’t say for sure how many there were. Most of them are probably lost.' Four American Composers: Philip Glass (1983) Director: Peter Greenaway image 4 American Composers offers startling and intimate insights into the music and ideas of four very original American composers: John Cage, Philip Glass, Meredith Monk, and Robert Ashley. Incorporating performance and conversations with and about the artists, these programs create an experience that extends beyond the music alone, that explores each composer’s concepts and expresses their personalities. Philip Glass’s “systems music” has been described as a “high mass on Mars.” It combines the Western disciplines of the classical music tradition with Eastern influences and visceral rock. His hypnotic, rhythmic sound is appreciated by rock, jazz and classical audiences alike. This video features conversations with and about Glass, as well as the Philip Glass Ensemble performing, his Music in Similar Motion and passages from Einstein on the Beach and Glassworks. #music #documentary #kinostr #fullmovies #documentaries #minimal #kino #movies #art #artstr #classical #films

Tie Xi Qu: West of the Tracks (2002) image Director: Wang Bing 9 hour long film that details the slow decline of Shenyang’s industrial Tiexi district, an area that was once a vibrant example of China’s socialist economy. Part 1: Rust (0:00:00) The first portion, "Rust," follows a group of factory workers in three state-run factories: a smelting plant, an electric cable factory and a sheet metal factory. Workers of all three are hindered by sub-standard equipment, hazardous waste, and a lack of safety precautions. Perhaps even worse, the declining need for heavy industry results in a constant shortage of raw materials, leaving the workers idle and concerned for their future. In Chinese, this section is called 工廠 (gōngchǎng), meaning "factory". Part 2: Remnants (4:03:37) The second part, "Remnants" follows the families of many of the workers in an old state-run housing block, "Rainbow Row." In particular, Wang focuses on the teenage children who concern themselves with their own lives but must also cope with their inevitable displacement as Tie Xi's factories continue to close down. In Chinese, this section is called 艳粉街 (Yànfěn Jiē), meaning "Yanfen Street." Part 3: Rails (7:01:47) The third part, "Rails" narrows its focus to a single father and son who scavenge the rail yards in order to sell raw parts to the factories. With the factories closing however, their future suddenly becomes uncertain. In Chinese, this section is called 铁路 (tiělù), meaning "railway." #kinostr #Documentary #fullmovies #movies #documentaries #kino #films #china

David Lynch Cooks Quinoa (2007) image Director: David Lynch (Short documentary, 21mins) full recipe: Yield: 1 bowl Cooking Time: 17 minutes Ingredients:
1/2 cup quinoa 1 1/2 cups organic broccoli (chilled, from bag) 1 cube vegetable bullion Braggs Liquid Aminos Extra virgin olive oil Sea salt Preparation: * Fill medium saucepan with about an inch of fresh water. * Set pan on stove, light a nice hot flame add several dashes of sea salt. * Look at the quinoa. It’s like sand, this quinoa. It’s real real tight little grains, but it’s going to puff up. * Unwrap bullion cube, bust it up with a small knife, and let it wait there. It’ll be happy waiting right there. * When water comes to a boil, add quinoa and cover pan with lid. Reduce heat and simmer for 8 minutes. * Meanwhile, retrieve broccoli from refrigerator and set aside, then fill a fine crystal wine glass—one given to you by Agnes and Maya from Lódz, Poland—with red wine, ‘cause this is what you do when you’re making quinoa. Go outside, sit, take a smoke and think about all the little quinoas bubbling away in the pan. * Add broccoli, cover and let cook for an additional 7 minutes. * Meanwhile, go back outside and tell the story about the train with the coal-burning engine that stopped in a barren, dust-filled landscape on a moonless Yugoslavian night in 1965. The story about the frog moths and the small copper coin that became one room-temperature bottle of violet sugar water, six ice-cold Coca-colas, and handfuls and handfuls of silver coins. * Turn off heat, add bullion to quinoa and stir with the tip of the small knife you used to bust up the bullion. * Scoop quinoa into bowl using a spoon. Drizzle with liquid amino acids and olive oil. Serve and enjoy. #fullmovies #kinostr #cooking #food #foodstr #movies #documentaries #documentary #films #shorts #kino #zapcooking

The Pervert's Guide to Ideology (2012) image Director: Sophie Fiennes 'The Pervert's Guide to Ideology is a 2012 British documentary film directed by Sophie Fiennes and written and presented by Slovenian philosopher and psychoanalytic theorist Slavoj Žižek.[2] It is a sequel to Fiennes's 2006 documentary The Pervert's Guide to Cinema. Though the film follows the frameworks of its predecessor, this film's emphasis is on ideology itself. Through psychoanalysis Žižek explores "the mechanisms that shape what we believe and how we behave. ... Full Metal Jacket, The Sound of Music to the political dimensions of Jaws. Taxi Driver, Zabriskie Point, The Searchers, The Dark Knight, John Carpenter's They Live ("one of the forgotten masterpieces of the Hollywood Left"), Titanic, Kinder Surprise eggs, verité news footage, the emptiness of Beethoven's "Ode to Joy," and propaganda epics from Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia all inform Žižek's psychoanalytic-cinematic argument.' #kinostr #documentaries #fullmovies #kino #films #cinema #philsosphy #Psychology #Ideology #Documentary
