The Scrum Life
a.k.a my thoughts on efficient everydays
If you don't understand
🟢 how your time slips through your fingers,
🟢 how days go by fast while you can't achieve much,
🟢 how you can't fit the things you want to do in your days,
You want to stress less
🟢 about what things you forget,
🟢 if your time will be enough for all your tasks.
If any of them is true, you might find something useful in this note.
We have a fixed time in every day. We will never get more, we can only sleep less, so that more of the 24 hours can be used. The number of hours a person needs to recover differs person to person, so you have to find yours. But generally we can say, that everyone has a certain number of hours he can spend on a day. Let's consider this fixed for now.
How you spend these hours depend on you.
I noticed in the last couple of months that if I work 8 hours a day (or more), I do exercising every day, I cook for myself, the week days are almost over. If I try to spend some fun time with my loved ones and develop for nostr, I am technically overbooked. This means I only have time for "grey everydays", and nothing much more. It sounds bad and also I didn't understand why. I raised question to myself how can I make more out of it.
So I came up with the idea of "sprint planning for my days". Not really a big idea though. I thought I use scrum, agile and sprint planning in my work, why I can't make use of its cool features at home.
Work and life are basically the same thing on task level. I have tasks, they have a duration, they can be complex, they can have unforeseen risks, and I have a fix time when I can work on them. So all in all, life could be perfectly organized with scrum/agile in theory. At least I thought. So I did a try.
Christmas time is coming, which gives us some extra things to do. But as mentioned above, my weekdays are full with "grey weekday stuff", so I can only handle the christmas stuff on the weekend. This means I have fix 4-5 or as many weekends as early I start. I want to prepare for christmas, but also do some other stuff, because I need the change to not feel monotonous. Monotonity can be boring depending what type of person you are.
Also christmas can be a source of stress, because you might want to make or buy the best gift for your loved ones, you might want to spend time with everyone, bake some cookies till christmas, etc. What do you forget? Will everything fit?
Scrum for the rescue!
I found that, by writing down the things I have to do, I can give my brain a little air to breath, and concentrate on being creative, and coming up with the best solution. This way I don't have to burn unnecessary brain capacity on thinking what did I forget. I write down everything at the moment of coming up, and then I organize it later.
By writing down my tasks, I eliminated one stress factor. The next source of stress to tackle is "will it fit?", "how can I achieve everything?", "why I can't achieve anything?".
The next step is to assign durations to my tasks and priority. Priority can be a deadline, e.g.: I have to submit a paper tomorrow has a higher priority then a paper that has to be only submitted next week. Priority can be also a personal need, which I want first.
Then, if I know the priorities and durations I can assign the tasks to days. I found it useful to underbook my days for risks, tasks that take longer, and also for tasks that can come up in the middle.
Generally I would say, if you have a plan for the day, but you realize you need to do something else, you have to shift something else to the next days. But if you finish early, you can tackle other tasks as well.
The good thing about assigning tasks into days, is it is quite mechanical, it has to fit the duration, and priority. You can still change these values if you realize that they are not correct.
By fitting the tasks in the days you can have a great view what can you achieve, and basically that is all, what you CAN achieve. If you start this early for christmas you can fit everything in while you can still have some fun. The other cool part about "day planning" is, if you see things won't fit until christmas, you don't have to stress about it, you only have to define what is the most important to be done (priority) and do only these to fit in your time but still be happy.

By the way, it can seem weird on #TheNostr , that you have no preserved @handle like on other social media, where if you take it, it is yours.
But if you think about it, and analyse some cases, the handles on other social media are not yours. It can be taken away, see:
Etc...
However on #TheNostr, you can have #TheNostrAddress , for which you need a domain. Of course you can pay others to host it for you, but you have the possibility to fully own your #TheNostrAddress aka your #TheNostrIdentity

Perfection lies in simplicity.
Intelligence is revealed in the ability to simplify.
The ability to simplify requires higher level of understanding, otherwise distilling information is really hard. Therefore explaining something in a simple manner requires intelligence and extensive understanding of the topic.

Every interaction is a value exchange.
You change your time and/or something else to another thing that you deem more valuable.
Value exchange also happens in Nature. E.g.: honey bees go flower to flower to pollinate. What they get out of it is nectar, their main energy source.

☕️ Coffee Thought ☕️
To prevent stress, be organized in your head.
Usually we get stressed when we have so much on our plate, and we have to always think what we are missing, what will we forget, what won't fit in our time.
A great way to get a relief is to always write done your thoughts and todos, and give yourself time at the end of your day and week to schedule your next days or weeks.
If you make yourself organized, new tasks can be easily put into your schedule, and you don't have to fear if something fits or not. Because by organizing you always know how full are you and you will know if something won't fit, so you can reprioritize.
Share if you think it can be useful for others.
