I have an old computer and decided to try mining #Monero. I never tried it before, so I downloaded Gupaxx. It wouldn't find a remote node for me to use, so I decided to try making a local node. It's been downloading the blockchain since yesterday. I see now it estimates it will be done in only another 2.9 months.

I'll be out of state during the Easter Triduum this year. One of my Good Friday goals is to find a parish where the parishioners don't sing "Were You There?" to each other.

I've been rereading some of the documents and canons of the Council of Trent, along with the Roman Catechism (i.e., the Catechism of the Council of Trent). It is so refreshing to see how concise, precise, and unambiguous they are.

TRANSPHOBE-PHOBIA: a mental illness -- the irrational fear of people who insist they can recognize a person's gender by his or her physical characteristics.

I had no choice but to go to a Normy Ordo parish (the best one around) for Ash Wed. Not a word about the significance of ashes or about death. As expected, I received ashes with the words "Repent and believe the gospel." We did hear that fasting doesn't have to be about food -- we can fast from things like "negativity" or "gossiping." (How do I do that? One gossip session, plus two smaller gossip sessions that together don't equal one full gossip session?) Also, we can engage in almsgiving by supporting (non-Catholic) Catholic Charities. It might have been better for me to skip Ash Wednesday Mass and just go to the nearby Adoration chapel. I'd be in a better mood and I would've actually been able to pray (without Christian campfire songs distracting me). It is right and just to go to the #TLM whenever possible.

Are you willing to actually gift someone else a generous chunk of #BTC? Consider doing so, now that #Lent is about to start. It could be a way to help yourself detach from an inordinate desire to HODL. It's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for an obsessive stacker to enter the Kingdom of God.

What do normal, everyday Bitcoiners use #Bitcoin for? What do you do with it? (Not Lightning, but regular ol' #BTC.)

Anyone here use nostria.app on the web? I'm partial to Jumble, Primal, and Coracle, but I just discovered Nostria and it looks kinda fancy. Wondering what other people's experiences are with it.

#Logseq and #Obsidian are my favorite tools for notes. Logseq is incredible for actually taking notes of any kind throughout the day for home and/or work. Obsidian is what I use for journaling or other long-form writing. I get way to excited about Logseq. This video should excite you, too, if you're halfway curious:

When the price of #Monero is down, I hate to spend much because my XMR drains too quickly. But still, I used it today to buy a lifetime license for #Cryptomator for Android. Cryptomator.org is free on the desktop. It's a marvelous tool to encrypt folders for the cloud. That means, if you wanted, you could use Google's generous cloud storage but they can't decipher your files, which are encrypted on your device (i.e., E2E encrypted).

When I proofread hardcopies at work, I mark either OK or Corrections at the top. I proofed a flyer for a so-called gender-affirming surgery clinic. Horrible details. With no grammatical errors, I simply marked it "OK" (w/ quotes) on 1st page. I was reprimanded for the quotes. #tolerance

I saw a video of an angry black woman on a subway loudly referring to a nearby white woman as "Miss Vanilla," clearly intending it as a racial slur. Is anyone really offended by being called a flavor or a food item? I can't imagine losing my cool at being called vanilla, white bread, or cracker. Seems silly. I'm not very offendable. But it's probably hate speech to call someone else dark chocolate, burnt toast, or graham cracker.

When people die -- especially those we have been close to -- I think it's good to remember they are not "gone" or " out of the picture. " They don't exist merely in our memories, but in reality. They still exist consciously, though outside of the body until the resurrection. Meanwhile, unlike us, their eternal fate is sealed. There is no reversing course. That's great for those who died in friendship with God. Tragic for those who are condemned. We can always change and repent, but they have no more hope. They've had their opportunity. They are eternally doomed. We need to make the right choices now while we still can. Love God and love neighbor.

I refuse to have my lexicon edited by the thought police. I learned that "tranny" is a forbidden slur, while "transphobe" is not. The people who are so hung up on what they perceive as slurs are the ones who decide for everyone which words are slurs. (As if "slurs" are the greatest of all societal evils.) Not that I'm not offended at being called a transphobe. In fact, it's an opportunity to set the record straight and begin a fruitful dialogue. Gone is the generation who believed "sticks and stones may break my bones...." Now we have a generation of trannies who, if your words disagree with theirs about the nature of human beings, are quick to literally pick up sticks and stones to break some bones. Even so, again I say, I refuse to have my lexicon edited by the thought police.
