Couple of things about maths and the language around it academically! Here’s the framework or mental model. Take really hard problem, how do you solve it? Well like everything our teachers said, break it into smaller pieces. The pieces: Identity - A mathematical identity is like a hardened undeniable never not true. Example 1+1=2 an identity can never be altered, changed, or improved on. It’s a finished thing, like a brick is a finished product. Its purpose is being a brick, no more. Lemma - To make a hardened identity, you usually assemble “lemmas” which are sort of like the Lego blocks that build the house. It’s the chapters in the book that produce or lead to a proof. Mathematical proof - surgical, undeniable, maximum truth, laws of thermodynamics level certainty. The proof is usually a construction of identities, and just like cooking food, we use different ingredients different ways to make different dishes. Similar to maths, you and I may use the same identities (ingredients) to assemble a proof (cooked meal). Interesting how they work but the illuminating thing is that it is very similar to normal systems just a little more intimidating (but it shouldn’t be!!!)

Super cool thing that goes underappreciated… In 2025, the fighting game community (“the FGC”) had this Magnus Carlson level wizard enter the pro scene. But streetfighter is one of the few games that young dudes never make it. Heapssss of meta, and heapssss of experience usually separates the boys from the men.
