Let me tell you a bit about a little side project I’ve been working on.
A while back, I wanted a Raspberry Pi to tinker around with. I didn't have a clear plan at the moment; I just wanted to see what these little machines were capable of as mini PCs/servers. After researching a bit more—and dealing with price hikes due to the sky-high demand for Raspberry Pis—I ultimately decided to get an Orange Pi 5 Plus since it was "cheaper" and had better specs. I threw a few operating systems on it (Linux, obviously), installed some games, tried downloading a Bitcoin node, and other odds and ends.
After a year, I gave the hardware a specific purpose: to learn more about #bitcoin.
I started researching what I needed to run a full Bitcoin node. I bought a 1TB SSD because, theoretically, I didn't need more than that to store a full copy of the blockchain. Once I got it up and running on Ubuntu, I felt so happy to have launched it and to be a part of the decentralization.
Since I already had a #Nerdminer (my favorite toy), I felt a sense of joy not only backing the blockchain but also starting to mine (even if it was just a symbolic 78 KH/s). After leaving it for a good while, I discovered the firmware could be updated from the manufacturer's site... and seriously, you have no idea how mind-blowing it was for me to see I could hit 250 KH/s.
This was starting to become an addiction... I asked myself, "Why not?" Aside from solo mining, why not have my own mining pool? So, I looked into how to do it with the hardware I already had. In the meantime, I found the #Lunaticoin podcast—the one where he invites #Bitronics and they talk about the Pool, solo mining, and Bitaxes (it has become my favorite podcast, that episode in particular). Anyway, I used AI to guide me through the configuration stuff I needed. Finally, with CKPool, I was able to spin up my own Pool, just like they said in the podcast!
So, I had my full bitcoin node and my CKPool configured to my needs, but the most sensational part was that my Nerdminer was requesting jobs from my CKPool, and CKPool was communicating with my Bitcoin node...
Finally, I made the decision to get a proper miner. I already had the infrastructure, so why not do it with more hashing power? My mind was made up. I ordered a #NerdQAxe++ from #bitronics. Now I have 2 workers on my node: the NerdQAxe++ and the Nerdminer, both collaborating in the CKPool.
I’m sharing this because I am genuinely excited to be part of something, and I want to encourage more people to do it. This community is great. I’ll try to document the step-by-step process of this project. I know I only implemented what already exists and pieced it together like a puzzle —maybe forcing a few pieces =)— but for me, this has been a huge achievement. The beginning of more projects.

Les contaré un poco sobre un proyectillo en el que estuve trabajando.
Hace tiempo quería un RaspberryPi para "cacharrear", no tenía nada claro en aquel momento, solo quería conocer las capacidades que tenían estos equipos como mini PCs/servidroes. Investigando un poco más y por temas de encarecimiento por la gran demanda de los RaspberryPi, al final decidí adquirir un Orange Pi 5 Plus por ser "más económico" y tener mayores prestaciones. Le metí algunos sistemas operativos (linux claro está), instalé juegos, probé descargando un nodo de bitcoin y otras yerbas.
Luego de 1 año, le di un uso particular al hardware para aprender más sobre #bitcoin.
Comencé a investigar qué necesitaba para tener un full node de bitcoin. Compré un disco SSD de 1TB porque en teoría no necesitaba más para almacenar una copia completa de la blockchain. Una vez lo eché a andar en Ubuntu, me sentía tan contento por haberlo levantado y ser parte de la decentralización.
Como ya contaba con un #Nerdminer (mi juguete favorito), me sentía con una sensación de felicidad por no solo respaldar la blockchain sino comenzar a minar (aunque sea representativamente a 78 KH/s). Luego de dejarlo un buen tiempo, descubrí que se podía actualizar el firmware desde el sitio de fabricante... y en serio no saben la locura que fue para mi ver que podía alcanzar los 250 KH/s.
Esto comenzaba a ser una adicción... me dije por qué no, a parte de minar en solitario, tener mi propia pool de minado, entonces investigué como tenerlo con el hardaware que ya tenía. En el inter, encontré el podcast de #Lunaticoin, aquel donde invita a #Bitronics y hablan sobre el Pool, el minado en solitario y los Bitaxes (se ha convertido en mi podcast preferido, muy particularmente ese episodio). En fin, me ayudé de la IA para asesorarme sobre los temas de configuración que requería. Finalmente, con CKPool, ¡Pude levantar mi propia Pool como decían en el podcast!
Entonces, ya tenía mi full-node de bitcoin y mi CKPool configurado a mis necesidades, pero lo más sensacional era que mi nerdminer le pedía trabajos a mi CKPool y CKPool se comunicaba con mi nodo de bitcoin...
Finalmente, tomé la decisión de adquirir un minero en forma, ya tenía la infra, por qué no hacerlo con más poder de hashing? Decidido estaba, pedí de #bitronics un #NerdQAxe++. Ahora tengo 2 trabajadores en mi nodo: el NerdQAxe++ y el Nerdminer, ambos colaborando en la CkPool.
Cuento esto porque de verdad estoy muy emocionado de ser parte de algo y quiero animar a más gente a hacerlo. Esta comunidad es genial. Trataré de documentar el paso a paso de este proyecto. Sé que solo implementé lo que ya existe y lo armé cuál rompecabezas, quizá forzando algunas piezas =), pero para mi esto ha sido todo un logro. El principio de más proyectos. A ver a dónde me lleva esta madriguera...
Por fin operando a 4.8 TH/s.

Este capítulo es mi favorito. Me hice fan del canal y ahora lo escucho cuando salgo a hacer ejercicio o en el transporte. Me encanta la parte de los bitaxe que minaron bloques, desde el bloque "génesis" hasta el último que se minó esta semana y sacó alguna fracción. Ya he mandado a pedir mis bitaxe de bitronics. 💪
