Just started running my own Monero node on Umbrel. At some point, I will probably buy a MoneroNodo. It's a dedicated device just for running a Monero node. image
Mastodon is not censorship resistant.
You don't actually own your posts, but you do on Nostr by running your own relay.
#MediaMate is the coolest Mac app I've bought in a long time. It makes the notch work kind of like on the iPhone, where it actually shows useful information. Also, the indicator for volume, brightness, etc. looks so much cooler than the default. Crazy to me, that #Apple hasn't implemented this themselves... It should just come as default. The MediaMate app is definitely worth the money imo. image
The FOV and Mac screen sharing limitations of the Vision Pro are disappointing. The restriction on Mac screen sharing was expected, though. It’s typical of Apple: not granting users control but instead locking down the device. #VisionPro
Both the sewing machines I had for sale have been sold, so I ordered three more machines that were received today. In terms of customers, it’s quiet at the moment. Some people are contacting me requesting information about the machines, but no one is interested in buying right now — hopefully soon. #business image
#Bitcoin and #Monero fixes this. Unlike fiat, the government can't fuck with bitcoin and monero! image
Another idea might be to create a marketplace for moderation algorithms. This could be similar to F-Droid, the marketplace on Android for free and open-source apps, but focused on moderation algorithms. These algorithms would need to meet certain requirements before being published in the marketplace, such as being open-source and not including any trackers. It should be super easy for mainstream users, who are not technical, to search for an algorithm that meets their needs and then upload it to a Nostr client. View quoted note →
The Future of Content Moderation TLDR: Using AI to develop algorithms for content moderation specifically tailored to each user. I believe the future of content moderation on decentralized social media platforms like Nostr is users being able to generate custom moderation algorithms by using AI prompts. Here’s how it could work: The user inputs a text prompt to the AI chatbot about what kind of content they want to see. Then the AI generates a completely custom moderation algorithm specifically tailored for the user. The user might even have multiple algorithms to switch between in the Nostr client, depending on the desired content. Maybe sometimes you don’t want to be using an algorithm at all. Of course, users should be able to completely disable moderation as well. After all, the essence of decentralized platforms is user control.
And sure, you can hop through various hoops to try to make Bitcoin transactions somewhat as private and anonymous as Monero, but the average person does not want to think about this. They just want something that works right out of the box — and that’s Monero. #Bitcoin #Monero View quoted note →
If you ask people whether they 1) want to use a payment method that displays every transaction on a publicly accessible list, or 2) prefer a private, anonymous payment method where transactions aren't publicly visible, what would they choose? I believe every single person would choose option 2. Nobody wants their transactions or financial details exposed to the world. This, I believe, is a significant issue with Bitcoin. Monero represents what Bitcoin was intended to be: Private and Anonymous money.
I tried to use Google for the first time in a long while, but now I'm back to DuckDuckGo again. Google keeps asking me to verify I'm not a robot because I am using a VPN. DuckDuckGo just works without problems. It never asks me to verify that I'm a human. I just tried using Google for fun, to see how it has changed since I last used it. It hasn't changed. It's still shit... Fuck Google.
I don’t understand why anyone would prefer Bitcoin over Monero for spending. I mean, do you want everyone (especially someone like Chainalysis) to see how much you spend and to whom you send money? With Monero, you’re anonymous to a much larger degree than with Bitcoin — and the fees are lower. Monero is perfect for spending and Bitcoin is perfect for savings. View quoted note →
Anarcho-capitalism is the ultimate system we should pursue. We'll probably never achieve it, but at least reaching minarchism is much better than what we have now.
On Nostr, you truly own all your activity on the protocol. No one can censor you, no matter how much they may want to. #Nostr #Umbrel image
