🔬 From the Biggest to the Smallest Things in the Quantum World
Quantum physics takes us on a journey into the tiniest building blocks of existence. But what exactly lies at these unimaginably small scales?
We begin with molecules—combinations of atoms that create DNA, proteins, and the chemistry of life itself. Inside them, we find atoms, where electrons orbit around a dense nucleus. The nucleus is itself a compact world of protons and neutrons, both made of even smaller particles: quarks, bound together by gluons, carriers of the strong nuclear force.
Yet, quarks and gluons may not be the final frontier. Some physicists propose that these "fundamental" particles are in fact manifestations of something even deeper: tiny, vibrating strings of energy. According to string theory, the vibration patterns of these one-dimensional strings could explain why particles differ in mass and force.
