haha ! called one shop they said they don't carry 3M crystalline tint because it is too expensive. mind you this was a certified 3M Pro Shop. called another shop and they will do the whole car for $765 ... i have never seen anybody get Crystalline for less than a thousand ! ! ! between XPEL for $700 and Crystalline for $765 that's a no brainer ! Crystalline usually runs 50% more than XPEL. only problem is i would have to pre-order the film, pay in advance, drive 40 miles to the shop and then find something to do for the whole day while they are doing the tint LOL if i go with XPEL it's just a few blocks away from here i would just take an Uber home and jerk off to porn while they are doing my tint ... but you know me ! i must have the best, so Crystalline Black it is. OK i'm back. spent about an hour in bed was able to extract some lessons from this experience proud of myself because i was able to treat a victory as a defeat and learn from it, which is something when Robert Greene said it i couldn't even understand at the time. took a lot of mental effort to get over the fact that actually i bought the right reflectors and for the right reasons ( i remembered that my research showed weathertech had bad fit on rear windows, while the heatshield i ordered even if the fit is as bad as weathertech at least it has suction cups for backup and doesn't have to rely on perfect fit to stay in place ). i had to put this fact aside to turn the actual victory into a hypothetical defeat in order to learn from it. the lesson i ended up learning is that when you're solving a problem and there is an assumed constraint you're working around and the constraint is suddenly removed the correct course of action isn't to rush to the solution that is now immediately within reach but instead to realize your entire thought process has been invalidated because it was based around a constraint that no longer exists and actually you need to start your analysis over from scratch ... and the second lesson was that the first lesson is going to be useless in practice unless you have allocated enough time to actually re-do the analysis ... so the real lesson remains what i have said before - always start research as soon as possible and go in as hard as you can but never make the actual decision until it is absolutely necessary in this case of course Summer is already here and i had to pull the trigger on the reflectors because when i come out of Costco here in Orlando the inside of the car is like 150F and these reflectors can drop this by about 20 degrees or more. technically Volvo has ability to precondition the car by app but i refuse to pay for the subscription because half the time the app didn't work back when i was in the 3 year free trial period. and truthfully the $200 reflectors were just a warm up for the $1,000 tint job. i was trying to muster the courage to pull the trigger on that but couldn't so i decided to order the reflectors first to boost my confidence in my ability to actually make a decision but this backfired spectacularly because now i have even less confidence. however Florida Summer doesn't care if i have confidence or not so as per lesson 2 it was all for nothing because ultimately there is no time to think even if there is a need. i will have to do the tint regardless but now i will lean towards cheaper options due to lacking confidence to bite the bullet and go with the more premium configurations. so now it will perhaps be a $500 tint job instead of $1000 job. as a perfectionist i feel horrible about this situation. to have to compromise both on the analysis ( which solution to go with ) and on the performance of the solution itself. but i might not keep this car for long so i was already struggling to justify the best tint ( 3M Crystalline Black, made in US ) or tinting the windshield and now that my confidence is mortally wounded it seems like i may have to go with XPEL Prime XR Plus ( made in India ) and maybe even skip the windshield ... in the words of Lewis Hamilton "i am gutted" ... and amongst all this drama i am supposed to somehow find motivation to go to gym ... the struggle is real ... @Prince Aleph View quoted note →

ordered heatshield reflector set for the entire car - every window except moonroof they had moonroof too but i didn't order it because unlike in a fucking turdsla my moonroof has a power sunshade here is what they look like using Toyota Camry as an example: of course they are custom cut for every car model the total order including shipping was $225. it's $50 per 4 items ( front windshield, rear windshield, front row side windows and rear row side windows ) plus $25 shipping. weathertech also sells a full car kit for $170. why didn't i get the weathertech ? honestly i forgot about it. but on the plus side the heatshield has suction cups for extra secure mounting while weathertech does not. so that may be worth the extra money if those suction cups end up being needed. if not - i simply won't install them ( they aren't installed before shipping ). weathertech only sells front windshield or full car set. heatshield allows you to buy individual windows. my original plan was to get Covercraft for the front windshield: and heatshield for the remaining windows ( since weathertech cannot be ordered without the windshield ). at the last moment though i just decided to keep things even and use Heatshield for every window including the Front Windshield then as soon as i ordered it i remembered the very reason i didn't get Weathertech was because it forced me to get the front windshield that i wanted to get separately so actually since i ended up getting the full set i should have gotten the weathertech since it was cheaper being a complete set instead of buying each window individually ... this shit happens to me all the time. and i spent weeks researching this and still fucked it up in the end. it happened because i eliminated weathertech from consideration early on and never really revisited it again and forgot about it completely then only remembered it after ordering Heatshield. i won't cancel / change my order because honestly it doesn't make a difference either way but i am VERY BOTHERED by the fact that i made an error. low IQ people are bothered by the CONSEQUENCES of their mistakes while as a genius i am bothered by the mistake ITSELF.
