Today in my boat hull design tool I worked on proportional hull-depth transformation and controlled draft adjustment. The app can now:
* Increase or reduce the measured overall depth of an existing hull.
* Reach an exact target hull-depth measurement without rebuilding the design from setup.
* Preserve the keel and centreline profile, including the established rocker.
* Keep a flat-bottomed hull flat while moving the sheer vertically.
* Proportionally move both the chine and sheer on a V-bottomed hull while keeping the keel fixed.
* Retain selected locked vertical control positions as local design anchors.
* Preview the resulting principal dimensions and hydrostatics before applying the transformation.
* Prevent unsafe changes that would cross or invert longitudinal hull edges.
* Keep the load waterline, manual weights and calibrated reference images fixed during a hull-depth transformation.
* Apply the complete transformation as a single Undo/Redo operation.
* Adjust the load-waterline height independently without changing the hull’s geometry.
* Calculate measured draft from the load waterline to the lowest point of the hull.
* Preview changes to LWL, displacement, longitudinal centre of buoyancy and vertical centre of buoyancy.
* Prevent invalid waterlines below the hull or above the lowest sheer edge.
* Save and reopen both hull-depth and waterline changes as part of the project.
Together, these tools make it possible to distinguish between changing the physical depth of the hull and exploring how the same hull behaves at a different loading condition. #boat #design
