Matt Levine is a smart guy, but his schtick is to write something pithy that includes lots of snarky pointing and laughing. He could educate his readers about demand response, or tell them about how Bitcoin mining acts like a giant flywheel that smoothes out the potentially damaging shifts in short-term energy needs in a large grid that supplies an area with unpredictable weather. But that would limit the pointing and laughing.
