Blessed by tech; working to bring the benefits to everyone. Freedom, incorruptible money, privacy.
Bitcoin is money and our hope for the future. It seems shitcoiners are the ones most excited about advanced scripting proposals like OP_CAT. They seem to want to make bitcoin into ethereum. We don’t need to trade shitcoins on bitcoin. People often gamble because their money is broken. We’re here to fix it. We don’t need to trade stablecoins on bitcoin. Bitcoin is for the next 1000 years and in 50 years nobody will know what stablecoins are. We don’t need to trade Apple stock on bitcoin. It’s silly to integrate centralized share registries with bitcoin and pretend they’re decentralized. We do need to make improvements but those need to be done slowly and carefully. Future generations are counting on us. We don’t need to rush. We’re not short-term thinkers with a high time preference. We build properly for the future.
@Stephan Livera Just listened to the recent podcast with Walt Smith. Walt wants the ability to have DEX capabilities in bitcoin, like Uniswap. He mentioned trading Apple stock. Why do these capabilities need to be built into the core protocol? Why not in a L2? This aspect wasn’t discussed. There was an implied assumption that it was L1 or nothing. The problem with building shitcoin capabilities into the core protocol is that it encourages further mining centralization. For example, if people could trade Apple stock on bitcoin, there would be an advantage to trade in advance of others. This would force hedge funds to cut more side deals with big miners and force other miners to centralize so as to not miss out on this extra revenue. We are already seeing this unfold. @OCEAN is struggling because they don’t go along with the spam. Miners don’t sign up because they lose out on revenue. We shouldn’t encourage more mining centralization. People should shitcoin elsewhere. Bitcoin is money and our hope for the future.
I find it concerning that folks keep pushing this message that there’s nothing to worry about. We can all be complacent? Look at the facts: The blocksize war did not prove that the users control the network. It only proved that external commercial interests couldn’t. If you actually look at the history of the war, it was the core devs that won and prevented those commercial interests from “firing” them. The USAF “weapon” that won the war was written and promoted by some core devs. (And I’m glad they did because those people helped to save bitcoin.) Furthermore, the idea that users know what’s in the core software is hopium, at best. Users download the bitcoin core software because there is no other choice. We all know that users will download whatever version the core devs publish. Users are forced to do so to keep up with bug fixes and software maintenance. The unfortunate reality is the core devs are probably the most centralized aspect of the bitcoin network because they have a virtual monopoly on the software. Instead of complacency, we need to recognize the danger of centralization and find ways to fix it. @Matt Corallo @Luke Dashjr View quoted note →
Trump knew exactly what to say to us libertarians. But hard to get too excited because I’ve learned over and over again never to put any hope on a politician.
Who knows if these numbers are accurate, but it’s interesting that China and the USA are running so close. Bitcoin is for enemies and I would expect to see them start to monitor and make sure they’re not losing the accumulation battle. View quoted note →
Seems like something bitcoiners will eventually bring back.
