My life took many hard turns and I spent a lot of time living at home. But I used that time to save. It gave me a base, some confidence and changed the terms on which I interacted with the world. When I eventually met my wife, I could buy a fridge and pay the rental deposit. My wife knows I provided that fridge, I achieved that fridge through hard work, that fridge is a win. When you have a financial buffer you make better decisions, they compound over time. It can be 3 months, 9 months, or 3 years of expenses. Whatever you need to start living your authentic self by whatever means you have available. Savings keep the darkness away just long enough to find the light.
