bitcoin is getting stronger BECAUSE it adapts to the stressors of organized power. whether it's a government agency, an influent miner, a NY agreement or any other existing or emerging monopoly, for bitcoin it's all the same, and part of the evolutionary adaptation to humans the users and developers of bitcoin CHANGE in order to react to these stressors in an anti-fragile fashion. not just static robustness but reactive adaptation (read taleb) if you don't believe enough people around the world are knowingly betting on a system that can actively adapt to monopolization, bitcoin isn't for you. buy some real estate

bitcoin NEEDS to be challenged to get stronger 1000s of faceless coin mixers instead of one whirlpool 1000s of local LSPs instead of one phoenix 1000s of local P2P trading venues instead of one coinbase 1000s of micro miners instead of one marathon if consolidation of service providers wasn’t a problem the federal reserve would have been just fine bitcoin itself, and the way people use it MUST adapt to be able to route around single points of failure. the samurai case couldn’t be a better wake up call it’s all about the ROI on violence. if the state cannot jail 10000 “unlicensed money transmitter” it will give up

bitcoin doesn’t eliminate the need for trust what it does is push trust to the periphery, instead of pulling it into the center the answer for secrets management is trusting your family and friends with shards and social recovery the answer for scaling will come from dunbar number uncle jim operations of LN routing, mints and local pools the answer for trading is p2p cash on a personal level the answer for mining is more localized distributed mining unlike the nation state, which is financially incentivized to centralize power and decision making, bitcoin is designed to be a trustless structure that enables all kinds of models of trust at the edges yes, organized power can come first for the exchanges, the big mixers and liquidity providers, the public miners, the payment processors, but as more and more of these operations migrate to the periphery, the return on violence to come after them is reducing

what i like most about nostr is that it’s still not cynical like twitter, nor is it superficial like instagram it’s the most authentic medium i can think of right now
