Apple gives older iPhones security updates but holds back all the good features. Basically saying "your hardware still works, but you won't get the fun stuff unless you upgrade." Meanwhile I put a custom ROM on my old Android and got every new feature for free. Open software just hits different when you realize what's possible.

Just flashed LineageOS on my old Android 9 phone and it's running Android 15 now. Feels completely new. Battery, speed, everything. People throw away perfectly good hardware because a manufacturer stopped caring. The software community didn't. Look into LineageOS before you buy a new phone.
