If you have to ask a lawyer before doing something, that thing is not permissionless, if it isn't permissionless, then why the fuck make it decentralised?
The only purpose of decentralisation is to do things without asking permission, not only to do illegal things but to not even care what is legal and what is not.

It depresses me how little does digital personal sovereignity actually matter in reality... I suspect I feel this way because both markets and political powers are rapidly moving away from individuals to collectives and states again.
I suspect digital sovereignity will increasingly only mean the national sense.
I also suspect that most productivity will shift away from the Internet and into physical production, granted most of that is heavy on software, but software isn't the same as the web.
Which means, Bitcoin wallets will matter less while Bitcoin vaults would matter more.
Yes there will still be entertainment and gaming and tons of money to be spent on that, but if the productivity comes from the state and heavy industries, then money will be increasingly handouts of stable coins for social welfare ... And you don't get digital sovereignity or digital rights at all when your cooperation with the state doesn't matter.
I am afraid that the world will become increasingly hierarchical, and investment in physical networks will matter way more than creating one more digital tool.
I hope I am wrong and individuals or at least networks of internet natives manage to survive and thrive going forwards.
Increment proof of work, every time you use the app, you do some work for yourself and for the people you are talking to
This PoW is a bearer token that can, somewhat, act as a proxy for both being an Agent and having friends (that tried to find PoW for you).
Finally, you can use Bitcoin to prove that you had that key for long time, which spammers can't do.
All of these are tricks I am using in #mns to allow random short name, but they can work with Npubs as well I think.

Found a way to encode 5 bytes in pronounceable two 20 bits words, for example `mipdop_rajbov`.mns.alt... this is most likely the limit, any more bytes will require more words.
With three words we can have a million times larger namespace, but is it worth it?

Americans call China a communist "planned economy", but I see them praying and celebrating rate cuts like their business depends on it .. sounds planned to me, maybe poorly planned but it is top down alright.
asking sincerely; if you are designing something that requires custom relays with zero deployment at the moment... What advantage do you get from making them Nostr relays... Vs designing your own API?
To be clear; Negentropy isn't unique, in fact it was a ported to Nostr from other ecosystems..
I am about to build something that requires a p2p gossip, and I want to stealman the compatibility with Nostr relays.

On one hand, it is a shame that all the great work from Proton is not self hostable, many isn't even open source .. on the other hand, it is not clear you can make so many quality software without aggressively optimizing for revenue... And it is not even clear that a protocol would get as strong adoption as a strong brand.
Still a shame because while I could pay, I know companies go out of business.. and I want things that can last.
The fact that phones forced the convergence to feed UI, makes me think all phone apps can become terminals and CLIs + some careful adjustments to replace some navigation shortcuts with gestures!
I am biased though because I enjoy developing CLIs way more than UIs
I just remembered that Americans tend to write phone numbers in ads as letters based on the phone keypad.. so maybe the similarity to phone numbers UX is deeper than I thought.
