NASA’s Roman Space Telescope has been cleared for final launch preparations ahead of a targeted August 30 liftoff aboard SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy. The powerful new observatory will probe cosmic expansion, the history of the universe, and distant exoplanets.

A nanoscale polymer film deposited on a copper tube by initiated chemical vapor deposition (iCVD) promotes droplet nucleation during water vapor condensation and facilitates the rapid removal of the resulting droplets. The circular inset shows nanoscale aggregates on the polymer surface that contribute to condensation nucleation.

POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SUNSPOT: Sunspot 4513 has developed a 'beta-gamma-delta' magnetic field that harbors energy for X-class solar flares. Unlike Thursday's M8-class flare, which missed Earth, future flares will not miss. The sunspot has us in the strike zone now.
