13th century Zen master Eihei Dōgen said each day is made up of 6,400,099,180 moments. I don't know if he intended for this to be funny, but I find it hilarious.

"...for a false conclusion satisfies a man better than none, and he will prefer a purpose, however dangerous and delusory, to a life which is free but without any aim greater than private satisfaction." -Gerald Heard (Pain, Sex, and Time 1939)

I was just using Claude to install software for a new webcam I bought (non standard Linux install) and Claude helped me find a bug in the code. Now I'm learning how to use GitHub so I can report the bug properly. Today is the first day I will directly contribute to open source and I don't know a single line of code.

Part of me is hopeful that big tech platforms will respond in a reasonable way when we ask them not to enforce KYC and digital ID, but a much larger part knows they will continuously use the state of exception to take more power regardless of what we do. The centralized nature of their business case requires them to be compliant with authorities. The clearest answer to me is to use a permissionless open source tech stack that can't be used in this way. The more they push the more we pull. View quoted note β†’
