One time I walked into a bank branch where I had an account and asked them to close my account out in cash. I was wondering what they would do. I might have had $20,000 in there or so. Not a small amount of money, but not a ton either. The teller looked absolutely terrified. In retrospect she probably thought I was commiting fraud and her job was on the line. They ended up giving me a money order. No cash. That was a very strange experience.
