WHO WANTS TO BE AN MILLIONAIRE?
"Isn't everyone a millionaire?"
Hello everyone, I recently listened to a very insightful podcast by Naval about those who want to be millionaires. It's a fantastic brainstorming session with wonderful teaching. So, I decided to write this essay.
The big question is that we all want (very much) to be millionaires. At some point, we all will be. Because inflation erodes our purchasing power so much that the price of goods/services gets more expensive every day.
Amidst a flurry of advertisements with thousands of people selling the magic recipe, courses that solve your problem, hot new college degrees, the biggest question for me is that everyone is an internet millionaire except me.
But throughout my life, I've seen people with money who were poor. And I've seen people with little money who were very rich. I firmly believe that happiness isn't in things. It's in the people and moments we experience. Things are a complement to all of that.
Solving the Million-Dollar Problem
Throughout my life, I understood early on that money is an important tool. It shouldn't be more than that. Knowing where money should be makes it easier to set a sequence of priorities.
I have a friend who loves money and does everything for it. He even has a fortune frog tattooed on him. Needless to say, he feels unhappy and incomplete, despite everything.
Therefore, I believe and am living proof that probably not all of us will be Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffet, and Bill Gates. But it's okay to be the best version of yourself that you can be.
It Takes 10 Years to Be an Overnight Success
However, knowing the place of money, its importance in this world, and what you want, we can work on the solution. For this, we have to have two lines of thought. Let's call them fast and slow.
Fast: You dedicate 10-12 hours a day to an idea. You pack it into a 2-year box; ignore family, friends, partners, health, travel, and impulses. You inevitably get there and become a millionaire. Obviously, there will be costs… Only you can decide if it's worth it.
Slow: You work, study, and rest. You have a job and work on an idea on weekends and in your free time. You have relationships, family, study, improve yourself, manage to maintain your health, save a little of your income every month, invest, and wrap up this side project in 5 years. Voila! You get there too.
The choice is always yours. The variables are not in your control, everything and everyone will always be against you, it will never seem like the right time to start. If you really want it very much, it's likely you'll achieve it, otherwise, it's likely you'll be just another one. History eagerly reminds us of several people who succeeded, but they are only there because they didn't stop until they did. So, who wants to be a millionaire?
