So what is Tai Chi ? πŸ€” This is a tricky question because it means different things to different people. In practice it is a series of movements, form and exercises that transform the mind and body and act as a vehicle for martial arts and/or spiritual development. However nowadays some schools focus purely on its martial aspects where as others focus on the health, meditative and spiritual aspects which is my preference. The history of Tai Chi is not generally agreed upon however there are some common themes. The art is thought to date back to around the 12th century in China and a Taoist adept named Chang San Feng who developed martial forms mixed with internal alchemy practises to transform the mind, energy and spirit (Yi, Chi and Shen). There is also evidence that Tai Chi utilises a number of teachings named the Yi Jin Jing which were brought into China around 500 AD by the Indian Buddhist monk Bodhidharma. Later the art was developed by the Chen and Yang families who became famous in China for their fighting prowess. My opinion is that Tai Chi was not developed solely for fighting or self defence however it became used for this purpose by many due to the qualities that it builds into the practitioner such as strength, flexibility and a calm mind. Tai Chi can be practised according to the needs and goals of the practitioner. Some will focus on healing and health aspects, some will focus on the aesthetic beauty making the art more dance like and others will practise for self defence. Tai Chi is an absolutely vast art with deeper and deeper levels to explore. There are generally no belts to earn or ranks to achieve however there are many skills to develop and the health benefits alone keep most interested for many years. The internal energy aspects are particularly prominent in Tai Chi . Through the cultivation of one’s energy or β€˜chi’ it is possible to increase the function of the internal organs improving health and vitality. Martially speaking the body becomes more robust to falls, strikes and injury. Two mental aspects that Tai Chi cultivates are β€˜sung’ (release or letting go) and β€˜ting’ (listening skill) as one progressively learns to absorb their awareness deeper into the body. This aspect of the art can be deepened through seated meditation practice or standing nei gong postures. πŸŒ…πŸ™ image

Human law is law only by virtue of its accordance with right reason; and thus, it is manifest that it flows from the eternal law. And in so far as it deviates from right reason it is called an unjust law; in such case it is no law at all, but rather a species of violence. Thomas Aquinas #plebchain #naturallaw

Tai chi and surfing πŸ€”πŸ„β€β™‚οΈ I had a whole load of neck and shoulder issues from years of computers and desk jobs Initially the surfing didn’t help much , it mainly aggravated the tension in my neck. I then had a couple of years out to focus on martial arts and particularly tai chi with an emphasis on stretching and releasing all of the muscle and soft tissue in my upper body that was so tight that my mobility was very much reduced and posture kinda uneven too. Anyway 2 years later and I started to venture back into the water and noticed that my upper body range of motion had returned, my pop up felt much easier and I was about 80% pain free for the most part. It’s an ongoing project actually releasing the neck and shoulders in tai chi. But well worth the daily work because it benefits all areas of one’s life. πŸ˜ŽπŸ™ #taichi #surfing #plebchain #grownostr image

Why move slowly in Tai Chi? πŸ€” Well the slow movement can be far more challenging. It places more strain on the body and mind forcing the practitioner to feel every inch of where he holds tension in his body. When the discomfort becomes too much he must find β€˜sung’ and release that tension. Sung and Ting are the two primary skills being cultivated. Imaging doing a set of ten squats. Now do them at quarter speed feeling every tiny part of the movement. Do not allow the mind to dissociate, stay fully present however uncomfortable that is. Over time the body becomes stronger and more released, more robust and flexible. The mind becomes calmer under pressure. Through many repetitions the movements will become more fluid but maintain the power that was built in the slow practice. πŸ™ #TaiChi #grownostr #plebchain image

So my slightly strange journey into Bitcoin started in 2012. Quick disclaimer- I didn’t make it rich. πŸ™„ Essentially what happened was that I got into Bitcoin and then Litecoin and inadvertently ended up running a Bitcoin node but really had no idea what I was doing. I had technical problems and computer issues, lost my LTC and ended up spending my BTC on gift cards but can’t for the life of me remember what i spent those on! 😩 I then left the space entirely and didn’t get back in until 2021 during the bull market. I played around with some shit coins but didn’t really get orange pilled until early 2022. πŸŠπŸŒ… The crazy thing is that despite all my time wasting we’re still early! Mass adoption is around the corner and bitcoin is really the only serious option as money. βš‘οΈπŸ˜ŽπŸ™ #plebchain
