This is where my wife and I grew up, where we used to live & work with the farmers for many years. Last year we decided to leave, it was a plethora of reasons. Seeing this in our (ex)local newspaper today is shocking: “Farmer is not allowed to milk his cows in the night anymore” image

Time to say goodbye to ING bank. It was my last Dutch bank account. They don’t allow use of VPN to login to your bank account. Both the app and the website block VPNs.

Today I talked a while with an owner of an antique shop. There’s almost zero interest in decent antique furniture. Massive oak remains unsold, while it lasts hundreds of years. People are buying as cheap as possible. He is shifting more and more towards small “antique” bracelets, rings and other junk that they usually just receive for free when they clear houses. This couple of euros junk just sells. He also had a couple pairs of shoes of old brands, they last a lifetime, they are basically new but “old fashioned”. I asked him how old he thought my shoes were. Couple years he answered but still looking good, easily fixable, old fashioned way. Told him, 3 new soles, 1 new inner work. 21 years old. Wore them couple of times each month… He said the best pairs should last 40 years wearing them weekly. You can still find a few manufacturers in Europe… Low time preference shifting to high preference in the antique market was not something I was expecting to see. Fun part, the fridge he had reminded me of @BitPopArt 😂 image

This post was definitely suppressed on x. Posted it on the 2nd of June. It was a repost of the history of Persia. Curious how many bitcoiners actually visited Iran? Having traveled across the globe a lot, it has been one of the highlights of my traveling life. The story and pictures: “The American mind could once comprehend this 😂 I know Iranian living in the US and the Netherlands, I don’t know of many Americans living in Iran. As an American it’s difficult to visit. Since a Dutch guy (that has been murdered) a couple of years ago because he dropped a virus in the uranium enrichment facility, it has also become more difficult for the Dutch. Luckily I had the time to visit one of the most beautiful and welcoming places on this earth. The people were pure resistance to their government. Moral of the story, US is closing its borders. The countries that open it up will long term thrive, if they build a robust monetary non inflationary system. As that was also the basis of the Persian empire and the overthrower Alexander. Free exchange on a hard money standard without over taxation thrives. “

Where should we live? Where should our kids grow up? What is the optimal location? Will bitcoiners become nomads again? In the next decade I would love to see bitcoiners create a cooperation that owns vasts amount of real estate at optimal locations across the globe. The ownership is in the form of shares freely tradeable. Every x blocks you receive points that you can use for booking your stay at different locations across the globe. A concept like this has been in existence for many decades and I’ve personally used it a lot. Bitcoiners should start a similar corporation so we can live anywhere across the world, owning the real estate with low time preference, while sharing the ownership for optimized maintenance, build, tax and many other purposes. This concept already exists since 1963 and I believe bitcoiners can improve upon it and build the best locations for bitcoiners through a similar setup. For more info about how this works check: image
