Artist’s Statement
by Steven Minnaar
I call my works Minnaars—not just paintings or pieces, but expressions of a philosophy. In Dutch, Minnaar means “lover,” and I embrace that meaning fully. To me, each piece is a symbol of love: love for life, for art, for humanity, for romance, and especially for women—their presence, their spirit, and the beauty of the female form.
I work across multiple mediums, styles, and sizes, often shifting fluidly between them. Whether I’m painting the delicate curve of the human figure, the serenity of nature, or creating expressive, gestural works to probe my own inner terrain, each Minnaar is a meditation on the sanctity, beauty, and tragedy of life.
At the heart of my practice is a deep respect for authenticity, liberty, and self-mastery. I create not just to express, but to explore: to uncover truth, to cultivate an abundance mindset, and to challenge both myself and my audience to live freely and intentionally. Many of my works reflect my exploration of the mystery and grace in the female form, nature, and the complex power of human presence.
Minnaars are more than just objects—they are expressions of value. I offer them as an alternative store of value, one that can resist inflation and reward presence. Unlike traditional assets, they pay dividends every time you stop to look at them. Each piece is priced in silver, not fiat currency, as a quiet act of protest and a stand for integrity.
Every Minnaar includes a digital Certificate of Authenticity to protect its provenance and ensure lasting value for my collectors. And in a world of mass production and fleeting trends, my art remains exchangeable—collectors can trade one Minnaar for another of equal value within the collection. This invites participation, scarcity, and stewardship. Each Minnaar is rare by design, part of a living economy of beauty, meaning, and truth.
