The US history of trying to undermine the Syrian government goes back much further than Biden, Trump or Obama. Just one example from Wikileaks in 2006 where US diplomats discuss tactics for weakening Assad. "Possible action: -- PLAY ON SUNNI FEARS OF IRANIAN INFLUENCE: There are fears in Syria that the Iranians are active in both Shia proselytizing and conversion of, mostly poor, Sunnis. Though often exaggerated, such fears reflect an element of the Sunni community in Syria that is increasingly upset by and focused on the spread of Iranian influence .................." One day everyone will understand why Julian Assange was thrown in the dungeon. @Stella Assange #Julian Assange #Wikileaks #Syria #Regime change

For much of the last three years I haven't had too much of a problem with the for you algorithm on X. Yes it feeds one's biases but it was random enough to provide views of those other than in my echo chamber. I appreciated this even if I often disagreed with them. Recently though "ForYou" has become nose to tail Elon Musk and his sycophants. And I don’t even follow him. So a little advice to Nostr clients when they design their algorithms. I don't wish to live in an ideological silo, X was at it's best when there was a broad ranging discussion. If you repeatedly use your client as a vehicle to push a particular viewpoint, I'm off. @primal @Amethyst @Peter McCormack

Twelve mile walk through the Dorset countryside today. Wet, cold and windy. Came across this hidden gem tucked away in Winterbourne Tomson. A small Norman church which apparently was a favourite of Thomas Hardy.

Music time. Edgar Broughton reflecting the mood of the first cold War, unfortunately he also reflects the reality of the Cold War MK2. "How far are we from dying Is it nearly at an end How far are we from dying Is it nearly at an end"

Many will be aware that Bitcoin follows a four year cycle. 18 months or so of "Bitcoin is dead" 12 months or so of quiet accumulation and then 18 months or so of "Bitcoin to the moon" This hype tends to follow the "Bitcoin halving" which happened last Friday I have been pondering the last Bitcoin hype cycle when at the same stage four years ago governments printed up $billions for Covid relief. I wondered if they would supply a similar boost for this hype cycle. Maybe a small start but we perhaps have an answer? War spending. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-house-vote-long-awaited-95-billion-ukraine-israel-aid-package-2024-04-20/

Programmable Money? Are we there yet? If I wished to set a wallet address make a regular payment from Bitcoin, Lightning or Liquid to an exchange over the next 50 years is this possible? Use cases, a charitable trust or inheritance planning.

"When oppressed becomes oppressor and the best becomes the worst, When the meek become the mighty and the blessed become the cursed, When the flame of faith is failing and the light of love has died, When the fruit of truth decays upon the tree of human pride"
