WHY AND HOW WE WILL BITCOINIZE OLINDA?

Olinda is a Brazilian city with only 400,000 inhabitants, located in the state of Pernambuco. Despite being a historic and touristic city, Olinda ranks as one of the 100 poorest cities in Brazil (with 12 of the 100 poorest cities in Brazil located in Pernambuco).

It is strategically located about 6km from Porto Digital, the largest urban and open technology park in Brazil. However, this development is not enough to deeply impact the realities of the impoverished communities in Olinda.

From the peripheral communities to the hills of its historic center, Olinda is full of small unbanked traders who have never even used a credit card.

In addition to small local establishments and businesses, Olinda lives a bedroom community dynamic with the capital of Pernambuco, Recife, lacking robust and broad local economic development. This causes much of Olinda's population to have to move daily by bus in terrible conditions, facing one of the worst traffic situations in Brazil. Bringing the sovereignty provided by Bitcoin to Olinda has the potential to completely transform the lives of thousands of people.

In June 2022, we helped three local families affected by seasonal floods with about 2 mi satoshis donated by bitcoiners from around the world, and from there, the desire to help our local community with the impact caused by #Bitcoin only increased.
Adapting the models used by Bitcoin Beach e Praia Bitcoin, we will join forces with Bitcoiners from all over the world to boost our local community. We sent Igor and Roberta to learn from Fernando Motolese in Jericoacoara and now we present ourselves to the world as a bitcoin-only project willing to be one more player in the fight for bitcoin.

We believe that #Bitcoin cannot be exclusive, cannot be elitist, cannot be racist, or xenophobic. Bitcoin includes all those who have been thrown in the trash by the fiduciary system. That is WHY we want to bitcoinize Olinda.

But how do we Bitcoinize a region?
The adoption of #Bitcoin as a means of exchange and store of value can only bring benefits to the local economy after making sense for each individual member. We believe that human relationships and contact are essential, and that we will only be able to impact local traders to dive into the Bitcoin Standard in a lasting way when each individual involved in the project understands the importance of Bitcoinization.

Thus, the long-term educational aspect becomes essential. We will unite local Bitcoiners for a true person-to-person task force.
- WE WILL create our local nodes, with solid and secure infrastructure to facilitate the construction of the payment network by the community;
- WE WILL distribute the educational materials made available by #[0] to as many local residents and traders as we can;

- WE WANT to make a Brazilian version of "Bitcoin Smiles," bringing incredible people like #[1] to participate;
- bring studies that are already being conducted on Lightning with the research group of teacher Eiran Simis he daily life of the population;
- continue to train Igor Sobrinho and Roberta Melo to become increasingly prominent leaders, leveraging the full potential of this couple.
