It’s preposterous that the average parking space on most city streets is only 18 feet long! The one pictured is probably only 17 feet-long!! Where in tarnations am i supposed to park my 25 foot-long Power Stroke beast of a truck? (Actually it’s 27-feet long when the trailer hitch is attached.) Do the powers that be expect me to buy some smaller vehicle? Small is so beta. Big trucks and lift kits, baby! All parking spaces should be thirty-five feet-long minimum! image

It almost never rains in San Diego during the summer or fall. Urban sidewalks, well trodden by the masses, pee’d and pooed on by hundreds of dogs, and sticky and stained by the detritus of city life is the norm. Add to this the refuse of disemboweled trash cans by homeless in search of treasure and you have truly nasty pavement. Yes, I ALWAYS take my shoes off in the house. #sandiego #filth image

The news in San Diego lately has reported that a large percentage of county fires are caused by the chronically homeless. Not shocking news. The other night they caught fire an old and abandoned home in a residential neighborhood. #sandiego #homeless #homelessness #universityheights #fire #housefire

A wound that will not heal. Broadway and Tenth in downtown San Diego is a warren of forlorn buildings, and pot hole-filled streets. Society’s down and out fill the nooks and crannies. #sandiego #eastvillage #downtown

A group of soon-to-be freshman tour San Diego State University (SDSU). SDSU has massively built up and densified its campus over the last 20 years. Arguably it started with a new regional light rail stop in 2005. The addition of more classrooms is slowly making more density, too; and the creation of an urban village along busy College Blvd enhances a once soulless area. A few light rail stops west is SDSU’s football stadium, and the creation of housing around it is supposed to begin in earnest this summer. Go Aztecs! image
