Elon Musk didn't kill Twitter, it was already dead when the fed spooked the markets in December 2018, effectively killing the spigot feeding the social media hype cycle. The real problem is the masses aren't interested in the town square paradigm now that it has to stand on its own. Even in the period of the pandemic, when people were effectively prisoners living under duress with nothing to do but to stay on their screens, a network effect stimulus so to speak, lab conditions, it was shown to not be sticky. If you think a billion people will be onboarded this way, you are doing nothing but trying to relive the glory days of 2006-2018. So, why am I telling you this? To FUD Nostr? Nope. I'm trying to tell you that these onboarding strategies I've been hearing about are nonsensical. Old ideas from the old guard. I'm trying to give you permission to reset your expectations. To have new ideas and to share and collaborate on them. The only qualification being that you be human. Don't accept the stone tablets from the hill. I'm trying to tell you to not overcommit yourself to this. That this will grow, but it will be niche. That we shouldn't be in a hurry to get this out to the masses by sacrificing decentralization. That we have to opportunity to take a step back and think about the new paradigm. We have time, even if the people with runways and budgets forcing us down a particular path don't. And we'll need it. And all the fresh minds we can find.

Societies should be judged by how they treat the non-joiner. Finding that out early is key.

I've seen this anti-pattern recently with the term scionic. The maps between a name and it's meaning will always be primarily political, and so too those who obsess over them. Care about the underlying pattern, it's a superpower in our world.
