Death is considered a separation because it represents the dissolution of the intimate and inseparable union between the self (consciousness or identity) and the body that sustains it. It marks the transition from embodied life to whatever lies beyond—known or unknown—emphasizing the fragile, temporary nature of our physical existence.
We live embodied in a body that we possess and rely on, yet our sense of self often feels separate from the body’s limits and changes. This tension is at the heart of what it means to be human — existing as a unity of body and consciousness, where the "I" that experiences is both within and beyond the physical form.
