Catholic priest. Normie poster. Taipan enjoyer. Here for the freedom network. Bitcoin ambivalent (save for some skeptical hostility every now and again).
I just updated Brave and I'm stunned. All windows returned to their proper desktop positions in MacOS. This one small thing is the best development I've experienced technologically speaking in years.
Nostr will never be awash in normies. There's simply too much coin talk here, and BTC is normie repellent. Any kind of crypto talk works better than bear mace. You don't have to like it, but that's reality. If we're talking marketing, we have to keep hammering away at the free and open nature of this network. Some people still care about that, and we need them. That's the sell, along with your own normie content. Nostr's best bet, since the bear mace ain't going away any time soon.
Really, AI is just like Web3, except with a lot more VC behind it. And like Web3, there will come a moment where we step back and say, "So this is it, huh? This... this kinda sucks."
We laugh and joke, but... yes. It's real-life content, eh. That's what brings 'em in. Bloviation about Bitcoin ain't exactly going to do it. View quoted note →
As I watch political conversations from the sidelines, it amuses me that we're back into the Neocon grindset: if it betters America, violent intervention in foreign affairs is actually good. Amusing that MAGA's non-interventionism is now in tatters, and we're essentially standing in Dick Cheney country again.
There’s no such thing as a morning person. There are simply those without the fortitude to stay up late.
Ss. Pius and Athanasius in one week. I am still amazed that anyone says yes to being a bishop after reading about those guys. I reckon they say, “How bad could it be?” before it gets awful. Happy weekend all!

GM. Around these parts on Friday, that entails office work leading in to visits to the homebound. Have a blessed one out there good people, and slide on in to that weekend. image

Just learned of David Allen Coe’s passing. He wasn’t a perfect guy, but none of us are. An outlaw who did the genre proud.

The new pop discourse is around "assassin culture," but that's a messy term. I saw the pivot ca. 2020 with the "punch a Nazi" dialogue, where consensus grew among certain groups that committing an evil (unprovoked physical violence) is morally permissible because it brings about a desirable outcome (owning a "Nazi"). This is really just utilitarian pragmatism in contemporary clothing, and is nothing new, even if it speaks to a weakened moral formation. Rule #1 of Morality: Do no evil. Rule #2 is implied via the first, but apparently needs to be reaffirmed: Do no evil such that good may come of it.
I used to start my work morning reading the paper, catching up on the news. Now I've abandoned the news and simply just scroll my Nostr timeline. Upgrade. Have a blessed day, people! image
Just saw a YouTube video about the New York Times' best novels of 2026 (so far). Modern literary fiction sounds dreadful.
The item that was expected to arrive April 23rd now has a projected delivery date of May 5th. Your United States Postal Service, everyone.
The MacBook Neo is still an absolute masterpiece in my opinion.
