Day 15 at the ECB. On this day 54 years ago Richard Nixon stood in front of the cameras and broke the United States promise of Dollar convertibility to Gold. This "temporary" decoupling from economics and physics has become permanent. So permanent, that most people have no memory of what it was like before or have never experienced it. One year later the Club of Rome published it‘s report "Limits of Growth" a best seller on the predicaments of mankind, since a couple of years before, scientists throughout the world have been ringing the alarm bells about their observations of rising CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere and temperatures throughout the globe. Apparently there haven’t been limits to growth in debt. While I’m writing these words, global debt rises in astonishing speed. I just went to https://worlddebtclocks.com, let’s see how much interest has occurred until I finish writing this. The question is: Will we as a collective wake up from the fever dream soon enough or will we face death from overheating? We’re currently living through times of mass extinction and the question is: Collective action or suicide? No amount of money will solve this problem, no politicians and no conferences of parties will present solutions to tackle this global challenge while focusing on short-term profits and their self interest. To the bitcoiners: There are no citadels on a dead planet. The science is clear. We’re facing an existential threat, we need to take individual collective action now. To the climate activists: Without taking personal responsibility over your money, there will always be a system that tries to funnel funds to our enemies. It’s not a coincidence that it’s called the "Petrodollar" system yet you act like some political party or law or subsidizing would be able to fix an incentive structure that is rotten at its base layer. System Change happens in your head. And if it already happened in your head, than find the courage to take it to the streets, to the people. Forget about trying to force down the orange pill to a select group of family and friends. If you know the cure to fever, offer it to everyone you encounter. Do it regularly. No one is free until everyone is free. A species can only thrive if everything around it thrives too. We’re at 42$ Million, that occurred in interest over the past 10 min. That’s 2x the amount of #bitcoin that will have been mined in 2140. Let’s make sure our grandchildren are still able to visit Venice, New York and the Maledives in 2140, we may fail, but we should at least try our best. Join #SaturdaysforSatoshi tomorrow. Wear an orange vest, draw your sign, pick any local bank, stay for one block. We’re unstoppable because: We’re decentralized, we don’t need to ask permission, we are open source and we’ll be immutable on scale. image

Day 14 at the ECB. Since the forecast for today was even hotter than yesterday I decided to draw my sign in the shade, while being harassed from Security to draw elsewhere or come prepared or sit on the other side next to the river, because there are more people there bla bla… We reached all time high in global median temperature and in Bitcoin price, which is represented in today’s sign. Then I met a friend from last year who had decided to fast on this day to live in accordance with the prophet Mohammed, which seemed counterintuitive since going through the hottest day of the year without drinking water while doing sports didn’t seem very healthy to me. But I was happy about his company. Stefano and Toni, the shop owners from across the street supplied me with ice cubes throughout the day, which were essential to cool down body temperature from time to time. After I listened to a good lecture from Mark Beneke: "Time is up!" which gave insights into the latest IPCC report, I met Emin and his colleague Derek. Emin was a true pleb and we had a fun time shittalking fiat. To his colleague it must have looked pretty crazy, but we owned our cringe. They brought some Mate and Cashews and went their way. In the evening I was asking the security if they would refill my bottle since I had run out of water, to which they replied, that they had been given orders to not give me water anymore. WTF? Everybody knows the rules are bullshit, yet they follow orders because they fear for their jobs and therefore livelihoods. Day ended with a 7 minute meditative gratitude practice, during which they threatened to call the cops on me if I wouldn’t leave the block I was sitting on. I’m looking forward to bringing a bit of humanity to an inhuman place tomorrow. GN #Nostr, sleep well. 🧡

Day 13 at the ECB. Maybe it’s the number, but today was a battle. It’s hot. Too hot. I’ve been alone almost all day, questioning if my existence has any meaning at this place. The only thing that put a smile on my face was the driving school that has a butterfly on the car, reminding me that my presence might have ripple effects down the road that I can’t possibly comprehend now. Also my friend from ECB Security was kind enough to regularly ask me, if he can refill my water bottle. I liked the sign, but most wouldn’t or couldn’t see the context I was referring to. Am pretty exhausted, just from enduring heat and my own thoughts and doubts. Gratitude practice in the evening feels like a good ritual. It’s much easier to be there in company, but solitude also has its lessons. When I look at the weather forecast for tomorrow and the day after this turns into a heat endurance challenge. Gotta train for the summers to come, which are likely even hotter. Read the first chapter of "Ministry for the Future" to have a glance at what heatwaves in the future might feel like in the global south. Because after all, that’s why I’m sitting there: For the people who can’t, for the people who aren’t born yet and for the people that don’t have the balls yet. image

Day 12 at the ECB. I took yesterday’s message to the heart and decided to draw something scary on today’s board. Although the symmetry wasn’t perfect it was good enough for me to be proud of the artwork I created. And with V‘s spirit in mind I vibed the following message: "People shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people." "Ideas are Bulletproof!" "Privacy is a Human Right!" I didn’t get much company throughout the day, except for Nouri who got into a fight with a passerby which kinda escalated out of nowhere. Maybe I was the agent of chaos today. Tchaikovsky composed today’s soundtrack, as well as Hans Zimmer, which created a calm but tense atmosphere. Best thing that happened to me today was taking an ice cold shower in the evening. Who would have known that enduring the weather is the toughest thing about being a climate activist.

Day 11 at the ECB. What a day it’s been. I’ve been a little late for today’s shift, because I had to buy new markers, sadly I couldn’t find orange ones. But I arrived at perfect time to start my shift at 13:12. Cop encounters counter moves up to 4 now. I was still writing my sign when I was approached by Tamara, a journalist from HR, which is the local media outlet. She wanted to shoot some Instagram content and asked a few questions to get more insight into my reasoning. Time flew by and my friend Fidel brought his chair again, so he took today’s message to the heart and didn’t fall for the scare tactics the authorities tried to use against him yesterday. We talked to some plebs and passerby’s. Also Jürgen, and Charles from the ECB were there for some time. I asked Jürgen for the photos that we took earlier this week, but he said he deleted them, because he said that he didn’t like his looks. I asked if the sign (Never trust a cartel bankster) was triggering too much cognitive dissonance, to which he replied:"Yeah maybe" Charles works on Mica regulation and tried to sell Fidel and me the upsides of the digital euro, which is basically trying to wreck Visas and Mastercards payment infrastructure monopoly. After they left easy sat down for some time with a couple of questions regarding globalization and freedom. Honestly it’s hard to keep track of everything that happens, because it’s just so much and the days wash into each other a bit. Once the sun set behind the skyline, the space gets more crowded. I got some solidarity from the climate justice movement in form of Heike and Michael who were curious and courageous enough to drop by and hear a different perspective on #Bitcoin then what they would read in newspaper headlines. A private equity banker who had worked for Rothschild stopped for some time to discuss perfect portfolio allocation. He thinks bitcoin is a pyramid scheme. Let him. Lisa brought the best falafel in town. Cops tried to say we’re an assembly, but left after a couple minutes without making trouble. My social media manager Max showed up and showed us the Reels and TikToks he had cut from the days before. My TikTok experiment died the day it was born, because I just fucking hate it, and won’t sell my integrity for cheap clout. But I’m okay if others use it and publish content there, guess it’s a decentralized approach to not get censored on a centralized platform. Great times, orange vibes start to compound, we’re slowly but surly widening the glitch in the matrix. image

Day 10 at the ECB. It’s Sunday, so the doors are shut. Whole thing looks even more like a prison than it usually does. Good thing, less security that can come up with random stuff. Markers are slowly running out of Ink so, contrast isn’t as high anymore, gotta get some new ones. Since I brought a rainbow colored umbrella, I thought my sign should match the vibe. After Without Me by Eminem, which I listen to every day on arrival, the playlist contained bangers like Rainbow Warrior or Rainbow Power, which earned me some smiles from the passerby’s. I was delighted to meet my friend Ben, a supporter since year one, who stayed for a couple blocks. We had Mate and Pizza, and were joined by another Pleb Michel, who announced himself for an interview tomorrow. Vibing pleb energy with songs from @manlikekweks and @npub1cyal...aces in front of the highest banking institution in Europe is just 🔥. I wasn’t alone for long after, when another grandma activist Irmelin dropped by for a quick chat as well as my friend Fidel who brought his chair with him, as he did the last couple of evenings. Irmelin left and then the cops showed up, asking to see ID of Fidel and trying to scare him off the area. It’s fucking arbitrary but they make up things on the spot, so no chance to argue much. He stayed and soon after Tom dropped by with his ukulele. We were singing somewhere over the rainbow together and I was invited to write into his Diddl Friends Book. After he left we sparked the interest of a Chinese dissident, who lives in isolation from his family in exile and the struggles of living under authoritarian regimes, state surveillance and arbitrary repression. We also talked about freedom technologies like, #VPN, #Nostr, #Bitcoin or #Tor, while listening to "Take town the CCP!" Another day of dream seeding in the bag. My office hours are 12:12 - 21:21

Day 9 at the ECB. What a day it’s been. My brain is fried, so have some good faith with me while reading. Very hot and very lonely in the beginning. Very wholesome and viby in the end. I definitely got a bit too much sun, so I was gleeful once it set behind the houses. Christina brought me some props for the coming days and gave me some insight into the international libertarian landscape. I was confronted with a truckload of Nihilism by another guy who wouldn’t stop speaking. Until I met Carim who asked me why I sit there, to which I answered because he doesn’t. He stayed till the end and we had a lot of fun with Fidel and his friends. This place transforms little by little, or gradually then suddenly. After my shift ended at 21:21 we went to see the open air theater Antagon at Sommerwerft. Breathtaking show telling the story of the 60s and 70s revolution. Good vibes. Great connections.

Day 8 at the ECB. Since my ego got more than enough attention through the various articles published, today was all about participation, interaction, shared spaces, community and letting others take the stage. The morning began with a security guy trying to invent problems where there haven’t been any before. Me being fucking angry about the whole bunch of bullshit I’m facing from every corner. Then slowly but surly recalibrating and having one of the best days ever, while enjoying company of the open minded, the curious and the grateful. Funny how perspective, focus and attention shape reality. Although there are many people who take interest in #Bitcoin most of them use it as a tool to speculate on fiat gains. But then there is this rare species of people who see Bitcoin for what it is, money, completely decoupled from the legacy system. "In the year 2140, 1 #Bitcoin will be 100.000.000 Sats." #plebstogetherstrong
