Node success story: After closing all channels and consolidating all funds into a single UTXO, I randomly had the urge to reformat the SSD and restore from seed phrase. 🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤦🏻‍♂️ I reinstalled umbrel on my node and began resyncing the chain, which we all know takes about a day or so. I got a little anxious during the sync so I decided to reassure myself by entering the seed phrase into Blue Wallet, so I could see the funds were safe. But after typing the seed phrase into BW, it said zero balance- and I started sweating and immediately ripped off my shirt due to overheating. 🥵 I was certain my seed phrase correct so I was very confused/concerned why Blue Wallet did not show a balance. 🤔 Turns out BW does not dig deep when restoring wallets. So I had to wait for umbrel to resync and rescan on the new machine. To restore on umbrel the method was these steps: 1- install umbrel OS on machine with usb stick 2- download the bitcoin app and sync to the chain (18-48 hours depending on computer) — wait to complete before next step. 3- install lightning node app, open it, and enter seed phrase. This begins the wallet rescan process and can take much longer than what’s comfortable (plan on 2-6 hours). 4- reopen the lightning app, funds are there I would advise against installing the bitcoin app and the lightning app at the same time. Wait until the chain is fully synced before installing the lightning app. The lightning app does not always scan properly if it is installed before the chain is synced. I actually had to delete the lightning app, reinstall it, and reenter my seed phrase (never a good feeling) to get the wallet scan to properly work. The steps above are how I would do it again if I got into a bad situation in the future. 🙏🏻#bitcoin #lightning #umbrel It was scary for a couple hours but after all that I can say the tech is good. 👍🏻

I just heard Washington state charges an additional 10% tax on purchasing bullion (effective Jan. 1, 2026). People are driving hours out of state to purchase gold and silver in Oregon to avoid the tax. Has there been much talk about governments implementing an additional tax on bitcoin purchases? Wonder if they would even try to do that
