Today, 1 mɱ (milinero), which = 0.001 XMR, is worth about $0.23 or 23 cents, if I want to transfer you $10, that would be about 42.8 mɱs or 0.0428 XMR
In a longer time period we could also be using 1 μm (micronero), which = 0.000001, where every 1mɱ fits 1000μɱs, so in today's example $0.5 dollars or half a cent is about 2.14 mɱs or 2140 μms!

(I like adding 2 decimals so that it is closer to the current ISO standards and you can use the last digit to round values as it's the least worth decimal)
