I figure I'd share an experience of mine along with my post... About a year ago, I started a self-custody lightning account and since then, it had grown about 50% in value as I barely used it, finding but only two small merchants to accept it. But when I went to to start transacting with it recently to use it online, I found that... it was just not working. I couldn't get any amount of sats out of it. I've tried almost everything. So I'm looking to force close that channel now, but this post is about what I did promptly before even considering that option: I bought $150 of bitcoin with my monthly allotted dollars (to now suffer the consequences of that reduced amount this month) but what I essentially did was FREEZE my loss. Now I don't have a "counting loss", just a $150 loss in case I lose all those sats. Remember we don't actually lose anything unless we deem it so. We easily mourn over what we could have had, but can be blind to what we do have to get back in the game, in our head, to keep climbing and gain from the experience, making it a lesson, not a loss, for no human can gain without learning, and can't learn without givng something up (time, energy, etc). Whenever you find yourslf against a loss, ask, what can you do now, to freeze it. There’s a natural order that is taking place. Those who have gained from the previous system, and don’t transition to the new system (like bitcoin) will bleed away their wealth. That is neither good nor bad, for they rightly sought to hoard the same energy you are doing so now, but their own limitations, will unwillingly allow the potential new wealth to be dispersed into new hands without holding it for their own family through inheritance, again. But if they do transition, then they are strengthening the new system earlier… it's a win-win for you who are saving in bitcoin. And that’s the difference... how quickly this transition happens. The art we leave behind is not only an expression, but a stamp upon our moment on this planet. The same goes true where you spend your money. Participating in cryptos just to make money because bitcoin might not be volatile enough, is using your current wealth capacity to trade your current ability to make a difference in our global community for the potential opportunity to gamble for more while everyone who needs you... waits. Time is our most precious commodity. Don't undervalue what you can do right now with what you have. It is this very notion that was stolen from us with inflation and so many other virtues lost along the last generations... like that we always needed more to survive and even more to make a difference. Bitcoin changes that. But crypto postpones it. They are companies on their own projects. If you believe in them, then you are investing. Good for you in understanding that difference, but if you are just in it for the gains, then you are gambling with not only a hopeful profitable exit which has a lower chance looking at the last 4 years (bitcoin cycle), and if it has less history than that, It's even more risky... but also with your entry into a life where you stop trying to make up for lost opportunities, and start creating new ones with what already is your greatest opportunity you've acquired. #photography #mindfulness #bitcoin #crypto
