A dolphin and a pregnant woman – a magical moment? This image is often shared with the caption: “Dolphins are fascinated by pregnant women because they can hear the baby’s heartbeat using ultrasound.” 🧠 Sounds amazing – but is it true? ✅ It’s true that dolphins use echolocation (ultrasound), and they likely can detect a fetus in the womb. 📚 Some dolphin centers even report that dolphins show special interest in pregnant visitors. ❗ However, there’s no scientific evidence that dolphins are consciously attracted to pregnancy or “fascinated” by it. That interpretation is more human than dolphin. ➡️ Conclusion: A touching moment with a hint of truth – but not a proven scientific fact. #Dolphins #Science #AnimalBehavior #MythOrFact #NatureCuriosity image

#life #rest #freedom #chill DON’T DO ANYTHING. JUST REST. Don’t fall into the trap of believing that doing nothing… means doing nothing for yourself. We’ve been conditioned to believe that not being productive is somehow a failure. That if it doesn’t have a visible outcome, it doesn’t count. That rest is wasted time. We’ve become so used to being busy — to checking off boxes, to tracking our progress, to measuring worth in output — that we’ve forgotten something essential: Rest is productive. It’s the moment your body heals. Your mind exhales. Your soul whispers. Reading a book. Taking a long shower. Sitting in the garden with a warm cup of coffee. None of it is a waste. Because time spent resting… is time well spent. We’re not machines. We’re not meant to hustle 24/7. We are human beings. And sometimes, we just need to be. — Becky Hemsley image

#nature #ocean #life #science #freedom #future 🤩 😮🤩 Researchers at the RIKEN Center for Emergent Matter Science, in collaboration with the University of Tokyo, have developed a groundbreaking biodegradable plastic that offers a dual benefit: it dissolves in seawater and enriches soil. This innovation was led by Dr. Takuzo Aida and his team in Japan, and it represents a major step forward in addressing plastic pollution while also supporting agricultural sustainability. The plastic is made using a novel combination of sodium hexametaphosphate, a food-safe additive, and guanidinium-based monomers. These components create salt bridges that hold the plastic’s structure together until exposed to seawater. Once submerged, the material begins dissolving within hours, leaving behind no microplastic residue. In soil, it breaks down completely in about ten days and releases nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen, which are key to promoting plant growth and boosting soil fertility. What makes this material particularly promising is its non-toxic, non-flammable, and carbon-neutral decomposition process. Unlike conventional plastics, it contributes positively to the environment rather than causing harm. In tests, up to 91% of the additive compounds and 82% of the monomers could be recovered and reused, aligning with the principles of a circular economy. The plastic’s versatility opens the door to a wide range of applications. In agriculture, it can be used for biodegradable mulch films and seed coatings. In marine environments, it offers a sustainable alternative for fishing nets and ropes that would otherwise contribute to “ghost gear” pollution. It also holds promise for consumer products such as food containers, disposable cutlery, and eco-friendly packaging. This innovation by Japanese scientists could significantly reduce global plastic waste and usher in a new era of biodegradable, recyclable, and nutrient-rich materials, with real potential to transform both environmental cleanup efforts and sustainable farming practices. image

#astronomy #universe #galaxy James Webb just broke yet another record! The James Webb Space Telescope captured the largest and deepest sample of galaxy groups ever recorded in a single image – a stunning view featuring 1,678 galaxy groups, some as far as 12 billion light-years away. That’s just 1.8 billion years after the Big Bang. This astonishing deep field comes from a small patch of sky in the constellation Sextans, just beyond Leo. While it may look like a peaceful sea of light, what you’re seeing is anything but still. These galaxies are moving, merging, colliding, and forming stars at furious rates. What makes this image truly groundbreaking is that it’s not just a collection of individual galaxies. These are gravitationally bound groups – families of galaxies orbiting a common center of gravity, shaped by the invisible scaffolding of dark matter. Just as planets orbit stars and stars orbit galactic centers, entire galaxies orbit each other in these massive cosmic clusters. Why does it matter? Because these groupings hold clues to how the universe evolved over billions of years. Galaxies in the early universe looked very different – chaotic, irregular, and bursting with new stars. Over time, interactions and mergers transformed many of them into the structured spirals and ellipticals we see today. Studying them helps astronomers understand everything from galactic evolution to the nature of supermassive black holes and intergalactic gas. image

CAN'T THINK OF A FASTER WAY TO UNDERMINE THE COUNTRY THAN SIMULTANEOUSLY FIRING GOVERNMENT WORKERS, CUTTING SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, ROLLING BACK PROTECTIONS ON PUBLIC HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT, AND CUTTING ESSENTIAL SERVICES. IT'S LIKE THE US WAS DEFEATED IN WAR AND IS BEING OCCUPIED BY A HOSTILE ENEMY. PROFESSOR JOSH BUSBY
