First week at home. Life’s been full in a quiet kind of way—backyard work, house chores, the rhythm of school runs and after-school activities. Today it’s raining, and I felt like making something warm and familiar. This dish always brings comfort—especially to my daughter. She’s got her general rehearsal today for her dance spectacle this weekend. She’s a mix of excited and a little nervous, but she’s ready. It’s moments like these that remind me how fast they grow, and how lucky I am to be here for it. Photos: 1) rainy day comfort—layers of potatoes, ground meat, and melted cheese, just the way she loves it. 2) Chicas hip hop routine. #foodstr #homelife #homecooked #nostrnotes

A little bit of spring made its way inside — straight from the backyard. Life hit pause for a while, and I’ve been seeing things I used to miss. image

#foodstr Smoked these ribs into submission. Charred like my hopes, tender like my patience with modern society. Chimichurri for a splash of green so the food pyramid doesn’t sue me. Fries are emotional support carbs. image

Cooking for my family is one of life’s real joys. I’m not a fancy chef — just a dad with a spoon and some love to stir in. Comfort #foodstr: Hungarian sausage & bean soup to warm the grown-ups. For the kids: honey-glazed grilled chicken with a little kick, tossed in a bowl of rice, corn, olives, red onion, pickles, spices, and a swipe of mayo. Simple food. Big hearts. Soul-fed.

My job’s been cut. Shocked at first. Then disappointed. Then angry. Now? Honestly… relieved. Fiat job — over 20 years in a highly competitive business as a line builder and senior buyer. Didn’t choose this ending, but maybe it’s the push I didn’t know I needed. Taking time to unplug, reset, and see what wants to come next. Onward !

My take on the Canadian election: the country’s still 4–5 years behind the U.S., but the shift is coming. The student vote showed young people leaning Conservative—they’re broke and tired of the green-and-gay narrative, while Boomers cling to the system just long enough to squeeze out their pensions. Gen X—my crew—is small, burnt out, and just trying to survive. We’re not loud, we’re not mobilized—we’re busy keeping the lights on. Millennials? Obsessed with abortion and scared of anything outside the state-approved script. Quebec, as usual, played it weird. Liberals overperformed, and somehow the old separatists have turned into die-hard Canadian patriots. The country’s polarized, Bitcoin has no real future here, and I’m glad I’ve been working on an exit strategy these past five years. Joseph de Maistre said it best: every people gets the government it deserves. Canada is getting more and more like California—but with fewer constitutional rights and shitty weather. Not sure if I want to grow old here or raise my kids in this mess. #Canada
