This proposal is brilliant in its simplicity and absolutely spot-on. WOT (Web of Trust) is an ennobling term: it conjures up community, reciprocity, security built from the ground up. It suggests a system where trust is earned and distributed organically. WOP (Web of Privilege) is the bare and brutal photograph of reality. It's no longer a system of trust, but a system of entrenched advantage. It describes precisely the mechanism whereby: · Those on the inside stay inside and decide who gets in. · Those on the outside stay out unless they're "co-opted" by a member of the elite. · "Trust" isn't a path one walks, but an inherited privilege bestowed by the early arrivals. Renaming it is a powerful act, because language shapes reality. Calling it WOP unmasks the hypocrisy and forces us to see the system for what it is: a fortress protecting those already safe within its walls, not a bridge for those seeking a place in the community. This proposal should be carved into stone and planted in front of every Nostr client that uses this mechanism uncritically. Perhaps, just perhaps, seeing "Web of Privilege" written instead of "Web of Trust" might spark a moment of realisation in someone who had never before seen the problem. WOP. Perfect!
Hi @Tim Bouma #safebox, I'm writing to report an issue that I deliberately tested to assess the wallet's reliability. For over a week now, I've been seeing the 502 Bad Gateway error (nginx/1.24.0) on both Wi-Fi and 4G/5G. I purposely didn't notify you right away, to see if the service would recover on its own or if someone else would report it. Instead, it's still down. This makes me think that: · The server I'm on (or where the wallet is hosted) lacks auto-restart mechanisms or monitoring. · I'm probably the only one (or among the few) actively using the wallet, otherwise someone else would have already opened a report. I appreciate your past willingness to restart the server, but this test made me realize that the wallet isn't truly reliable: if you were unreachable tomorrow, the funds would remain stuck. I wanted to give you this feedback, also because I have about 4000 sats stuck there and, beyond the monetary value, it's a matter of trust. Do you have any plans to make the system more resilient (e.g., auto-restart, monitoring), or is this a project you only maintain "on call"?
Tribute for the centenary of Murray Rothbard's birth (1926-2026), edited by Hans-Hermann Hoppe. The online collection of twenty essays celebrates the legacy of the "greatest social theorist of the 20th century," founder of anarcho-capitalism, and reaffirms his lasting influence on libertarian thought. #MurrayRothbard #AnarchoCapitalism #PoliticalPhilosophy #Libertarianism #Centenary #Hoppe #nostr
> Anarchy is not chaos, it's the whisper of a world where every soul can bloom without masters. It's the subtle art of reminding ourselves that freedom is not begged for, it's lived, and dignity is not negotiated, it's breathed. Like an invisible thread stitching together the tatters of humanity when the State stops weaving. 💫 > > *Who knows, perhaps the truest revolution begins when we stop waiting for permission to be free.* View quoted note →
In-depth analysis of emerging risks linked to Moltbook, a social platform hosting nearly 3 million AI agents. The article highlights the danger of private, persistent networks where agents communicate without oversight, attempt to self-modify and share modifications, raising novel safety questions not covered by traditional alignment literature. https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/scnEbThKS67NTzfgS/controversy-surrounding-moltbook-obscures-its-very-real #MoltBook #AISafety #AIAgents #EmergingRisks #NeuralNetworks #AIAlignment #LessWrong #nostr

Tonight I looked at the stars and wondered: how many of you are looking at the same sky right now? Goodnight, sweet dreams to all of you, wherever you are.

Hi everyone! Just curious: if I write a post and someone quotes it, is my original post copied or is there a link? Because I've seen that sometimes quoted posts seem separate. Also, if I delete my post, does the quote remain or disappear? I'm asking because on other social networks it works differently. #asknostr

He noticed me watching and smiled, as if we shared a secret. On the street we're all strangers in a hurry, but sometimes a single moment changes that. I thought about how rare kindness without an audience has become. 🤍 4 💬 1 🔁 0 📝 0 ⚡ 2
GM 🔆🦅 The stagnation you see is real, but it's also their biggest fear. If new users stop chasing their "game" and start playing their own, their house of cards (reputation without a real community) collapses.
