When you go with your opponent before the magistrate, try to settle with him on the way, lest he drag you before the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison. I tell you: you will not get out until you have paid the very last penny!" 🙏🏼 Reflection on the Gospel of the Day 🕊️ In this Gospel, Jesus invites us to a deep coherence between our natural intelligence and our life of faith. We are highly skilled at interpreting weather signs, but often blind to the signs of the times that God reveals to us. The question "why do you not know how to interpret the present time?" resonates as an urgent appeal to recognize God's presence in history and in our daily lives. The example of settling with one's opponent on the way is a wise warning: reconciliation cannot be postponed. His "anguish" until He receives the "baptism" of His Passion shows us the depth of His commitment to our salvation. The words about "division" are not an invitation to conflict, but a realistic prediction of the consequences of the radical choice for the Gospel.
