Who are we?
We are just bags of bones and easily torn flesh, with brains that lack powerful self-defense mechanisms.

When you were a kid, did you watch cool action movies or play any new call of duty games?
What were your impressions then? Was it possible to imagine that I or my neighbor in the hole could survive in much worse conditions? There were explosions, gunfire, the sound of heavy equipment landing, extremely difficult situations in which we live day after day.
If in 2017-18 I had been told and shown my future, I would have rather pissed myself with fear, because, like, "How is this possible?"
My standard firmware in my head required: eat, sleep in warmth, earn money to eat and sleep. That was it. What the fuck is a war?
And now what?
And now I'm sitting quietly in a trench, covered in mud after a night of fucking, with several corpses lying nearby with open mouths and empty eyes. I have blood and mud on my hands.
And, like, it became normal....
In my past life, I was afraid to go to the cemetery at night, and here are corpses and, like... Normal... It happens... You can also eat food while looking them in the eye. The main thing is not to show up on the thermal imager at night, not to be blown up.
Humans have an amazing ability to adapt. Each of the fighters around me never expected such a life, and some were even afraid, but now they just do their kohweh, plan the day and distribute responsibilities.
Calmly, confidently, without unnecessary panic and fuss.

Privacy is an inherent human right, and a requirement for maintaining the human condition with dignity and respect.
Privacy is important because without it, surveillance information will be abused: to peep, to sell to marketers and to spy on political enemies—whoever they happen to be at the time.
Privacy protects us from abuses by those in power, even if we’re doing nothing wrong at the time of surveillance.
A future in which privacy would face constant assault was so alien to the framers of the Constitution that it never occurred to them to call out privacy as an explicit right.
We do nothing wrong when we make love or go to the bathroom. We are not deliberately hiding anything when we seek out private places for reflection or conversation. We keep private journals, sing in the privacy of the shower, and write letters to secret lovers and then burn them. Privacy is a basic human need.
Too many wrongly characterize the debate as “security versus privacy.” The real choice is liberty versus control. Tyranny, whether it arises under threat of foreign physical attack or under constant domestic authoritative scrutiny, is still tyranny. Liberty requires security without intrusion, security plus privacy. And that’s why we should champion privacy even when we have nothing to hide.

Since mankind’s dawn, a handful of oppressors have accepted the responsibility over our lives that we should have accepted for ourselves. By doing so, they took our power. By doing nothing, we gave it away. Where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission.
People shouldn’t be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth.
Knowledge, like air, is vital to life. Like air, no one should be denied it.
