Some friendly (albeit unpopular here) light economic theory for anyone who is willing to read: the reason (online) communities with vague moralistic platitudes (like this one) are attractive to us as individuals is because they are a way of managing alienation.
What is alienation? It is the Marxist theory that describes the experience of human life as meaningless or the human self as worthless in modern capitalist society. It’s that melodrama you can’t quite articulate-it’s why you feel so disconnected or disheartened by “the system.” The fundamental misinterpretation of this feeling is why men like Andrew Tate have gotten so popular. We all feel this feeling. Even the richest among us. This is why some, despite having achieved “success” or a state of perceived “freedom” still develop addiction problems and are compelled to acquire more and more material value-this is a subconscious reaction to the contradiction of their automated role within capitalism. Alienation is beyond all of us as individuals.
The theoretical basis of alienation is that a worker invariably loses the ability to determine life and destiny when deprived of the right to think (conceive) of themselves as the director of their own actions; to determine the character of said actions; to define relationships with other people; and to own those items of value from goods and services, produced by their own labor. Although the worker is an autonomous, self-realized human being (this is the basis of the philosophy behind economic liberalism->neoliberalism->libertarianism->ancap), as an economic entity this worker is directed to goals and diverted to activities that are dictated by the bourgeoisie (capitalists)-who own the means of production(land, labor, capital, equipment, technology, IP)-in order to extract from the worker the maximum amount of surplus value (profit) in the course of business competition among industrial capitalists (finance capitalists)
SAG-AFTRA called for a strike in solidarity with the writers guild LFG.
