Russia has begun blocking WhatsApp and Telegram calls — confirmed by several friends inside the country. FYI: they’re now pushing a state‑built “MAX” messenger to fully control and censor communication. This thing is basically a Trojan with a government badge — demanding near‑root access, scraping contacts, messages, and data from other apps. Starting this autumn, it comes pre‑installed on every new phone sold. Officials are being told to use it, and even school parent–teacher chats are being quietly forced onto it in multiple regions. Welcome to the gulag, comrades — only this time, a century later, it’s gone digital.

The seed of anonymous electronic cash was planted by David Chaum in the 1980s. Austrian economists recognized its role in free societies and sound economies in the 1990s. The trustless base layer was founded by Satoshi in the 2000s. Lightning-fast payments emerged on the second layer in the 2010s. Privacy-preserving e-cash is now being built on top of trustless sound money in the 2020s. This is a decades-long fight against government tyranny. We’re winning — gradually… then suddenly. Never REALLY though of it until today, but the fact that I constantly use three different clients to use the social media part of Nostr to post/reply/read depending on their functionality is so liberating! This has never been an option with traditional SM. It’s like Hayek’s works and ideas on economics materialized in modern world - there is no perfect SM app, but there is a collective vision of how things should operate and a plethora of approaches led by decisions of separate developers and user requests. Endogenous development driven by inspiration and feedback. Totally subjective in the moment, yet super efficient long term. Decentralized open systems FTW 🚀
