Core Scientific Filed Its Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Plan Core Scientific, a Bitcoin mining company, has filed a restructuring plan in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas Houston Division as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. The company has been consulting with key stakeholders to decide on the future shape of the firm post-bankruptcy. Core Scientific's financial situation has improved since filing for bankruptcy, thanks to higher Bitcoin prices, an increased network hash rate, and lower energy costs. On the plan's effective date, holders of allowed debtor-in-possession (DIP) claims will receive full satisfaction of their claims, either in cash or an agreed-upon alternative, and any liens granted to secure the DIP claims will be terminated. Core Scientific had previously received permission from the bankruptcy court to take a loan of up to $70 million from B. Riley, one of its largest creditors, to pay off an existing DIP financing loan. Document: https://cases.stretto.com/public/X217/12024/PLEADINGS/1202406212380000000042.pdf image

Everybody Wants an ETF On the 20th of June, Invesco, another U.S. investment heavy-hitter, took another swing at submitting an application for a spot Bitcoin ETF to the SEC. This move is hot on the heels of similar performances by WisdomTree and BlackRock. But remember, folks, while these shiny new financial products may seem like a convenient express train to Bitcoin City, the old-school way of buying or earning Bitcoin directly and then tucking them safely away in cold storage still reigns supreme. Remember: Not your keys - not your coins! Document: https://cdn.cboe.com/resources/regulation/rule_filings/pending/2023/SR-CboeBZX-2023-038.pdf image

Bitcoin Herald | Block #795072 On the night of 14th of June 2011 Wikileaks turned to bitcoin as a lifeline for receiving donations. This was a strategic move to counteract a politically motivated banking blockade crafted by leading banks and payment service providers under the influence of the U.S. The attack has destroyed 95% of the organization's revenue, and if it wasn't for Bitcoin, Wikileaks might have ceased to exist. Better Safe Than Sorry On this day back in 2011, MtGox's database was compromised and the user table was leaked, containing details of 60,000 usernames, email addresses and password hashes, some of which were overly simple to brute force passwords. Don't gamble with shitcoin casinos! Holding your coins on these platforms means giving up control, not to mention the risk of personal information being leaked. The safest bet is to practice self-custody. Check out the original announcement on BitcoinTalk: image

Better Late, Then Never Binance seems to be gearing up for #Lightning support. The shitcoin casino has initiated three LN channels, the largest of which stands at a hefty 10BTC. While the option to deposit or withdraw via Lightning is not currently available to users, the feature appears to be on the horizon as the team finalizes the last touches. Disclaimer: This post is not intended to promote Binance or encourage the use of shitcoin casinos, but rather to highlight major #news. The adoption of Lightning by such a large exchange will certainly enhance the public's awareness of the Lightning Network.

Bitmain’s S19 Mining Rigs Dominate Bitcoin Network’s Hashrate A new study published by Coin Metrics introduces a novel way to analyze Bitcoin mining, allowing researchers to identify specific mining rigs contributing to the network's hashrate and evaluate their energy usage and efficiency. This research has shown that Bitmain's Antminer models, especially the S19 series, hold a majority share of the Bitcoin network's hashrate. The study also allows for an evaluation of network efficiency and a comparison to competitor positions, concluding that the current network composition is incredibly efficient. Additionally, the study found Bitcoin's energy consumption to be around 16% less than Cambridge University's Centre for Alternative Finance and Digiconomist's estimates. https://5264302.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net/hubfs/5264302/special-insights/coinmetrics-research_the-signal-and-the-nonce.pdf image
