“Wild Thing” exploded onto the scene in 1966, driven by a raw guitar riff and bold vocals that defined a new kind of rock energy. The Troggs’ version reached number 1 in the US and transformed a simple three-chord approach into an anthem of liberated attitude. Its spirit still crackles: playful, unapologetic, and wildly free, it remains a touchstone for anyone who’s ever felt the thrill of breaking loose. #onesongaday #thetroggs #sanpetardo #asongaday #wildthing

Written in early 1964 by Ray Davies at his parents’ home in north London, the song was inspired by a girl he spotted dancing in a club. Ray originally envisaged it as a blues-inflected number, but his younger brother Dave Davies transformed it in the studio by crafting its now-famous dirty guitar riff. He slit the cone of his Elpico amplifier with a razor blade and ran it through another amp to get the aggressive, distorted tone. Released on August 4, 1964, it became The Kinks’ breakthrough hit, reaching high in both UK and US charts, and is often cited as a foundational record for hard rock, punk and heavy metal. #asongaday #sanpetardo #thekinks #UK #punk #rock

“Vincent Price” by Deep Purple is a gothic wink to the master of horror himself. The track drips with eerie organs, thunderous riffs, and playful chills — like a haunted house built on hard rock. It’s not just a song, it’s a cinematic tribute: Price’s elegant fear reborn through Marshall amps and heavy grooves. Where horror met class, Deep Purple found inspiration — turning fright into art and darkness into pure rock theatre. #asongaday #sanpetardo #deeppurple #halloween25

A classic! Stephen Stills didn’t write For What It’s Worth about Vietnam or revolution—it all started because some L.A. kids couldn’t hang out past 10 p.m. In 1966, the Sunset Strip was buzzing, cops were grumpy, and someone thought a curfew was a good idea. Cue protests, chaos, and Stephen watching from Topanga thinking, “Well, this is weird.” A few days later, he scribbled a song that perfectly captured confused social tension. The title? Just a throwaway line: “Here’s this song, for what it’s worth.” Ironically, that casual tune about a local kerfuffle became the anthem for every generation convinced the system’s out to get them. #asongaday #sanpetardo #BuffaloSpringfield

What a masterpiece of a song — and in the version with William Shatner’s spoken part? Forget about it, it’s pure genius. A beautiful rendition, absolutely legendary. #sanpetardo #asongaday #williamshatner #commonpeople #pulp #jarviscocker

Spelt strozzapreti with slow-cooked oxtail “alla vaccinara.” We started braising the oxtail early in the morning so it would be perfect by lunchtime. The strozzapreti were made fresh while the shredded meat was soaking up all its flavor. Rich, full-bodied, and downright delicious. A glass of Lagrein to go with it. Should I post the full recipe from scratch? image

A strange synthesizer designed by the Swedish designer Simone Giertz: you can recreate your own mechanical choir using vocal samples. The only thing that bothers me is the mechanical snap of the dentures — she could have added some rubber to soften the click. The category is: extravaganza
