I have seen a few users asking about Alby invites. This is the option they gave me when I was 5000 on the list
Putting together a bilingual website. #Ghost suggest 2: options which are surprisingly costly. Monthly big bucks for an AI translation of your website, however good... olé tus huevos, say I. Weglot is a simple script added to your header. A floating button appears on screen with choice of 2 languages, for on the fly text and menu translation. Impressive rendition .but my god, pricey. Double check but a 50,000 word 2 language site is about 70$ a month. Really? They run a word count to give an idea. I have one site with a few landing pages and one article in 3 languages, ( it was translated manually) 5000 words in total would be 30$ a month. Big sites $1/1000 words per month. Jeez. Weglot is accurate, and you can edit word by word, but that's a lot of dough month after month. Another recommended site with similar quality translations starts at $120 a month for 50,000 words..Where do people get that sort of money! I think DeepL write and DeepL translate plus a little copy-pasting and a final read through by a native speaker is the way to go. If you write regularly,, I'd recommend DeepL Write as an editor for all your original work anyway., it will catch all the minor grammar and speling errors like what you see in this sentence running on commas. It rarely misunderstands context. To avoid internet snafus I have a notepad open next to DeepL' s correction screen and edit off line. Once you have an original text you are happy with, you can use DeepL to translate it. (Don't leave whole process to AI else you could well end up in robot world ) Expect very good initial translations. Side by side with Weglot they read better, I think. The' DeepL option is either free, or 17.50 a month and you can grow your bingual site forever at that price. For big sites and SEO and ease,, going DeepL, you need to have a subdomain for your second language version. If your site isn't too wordy, put the translated versions in a folder and build a faux homepage in a second language and put in your menu bar. Bit of a faff but on a budget ... Or even an accordion at the bottom of each original language page with the translation in it. I think Google bots will find the accordion last and not index the second language, so they say, but for a hobby site, why not. Any other options, I'd like to hear them. Gracias #translation #websites #Spain
What's the deal with reply guy bot. Is it a hint to participate more or a hint to slow down on the engagement?
It looks like the "shadow ban" was down to a glitch with relays settings. Reset the defaults and Im back in the Nostrbuild game.
Not sure what's going on with #amethyst but I have about 3 people's posts in my timeline and that's it. Not that I'm into accumulation but I had an interesting bunch of conversations and people to reference. Will return later to see if relays are able to pull anything together. Rest of my account seems to be showing OK #asknostr
Curious how 21 sats is always 1 cent these days when zapping. I thought it was only 1BTC always stayed equal to 1BTC
I am committed to providing value and assistance wherever possible. Putting oneself out there, sharing information, that is the foundation for building a strong community. This age-old truism has recently been coined as Value for Value. We don't have many financial resources to share out, but we have information, ideas, experience, time and energy. Is it any wonder the first adopters of V4V tech were artists, writers, musicians, podcasters! When a few people start to listen to an idea, and find value, and respond in a practical way, the exchange of valuable information increases. Before you know it, the community's knowledge base is building. Wealth-generating ideas abound. People are prompted to act. The pool of financial wealth starts growing. All from sharing ideas and information. Fighting for freedom of speech is nothing to do with anarchy or being anti law for the sake of it. Infringing on a society's freedom of speech puts a brake on society's ability to develop. The dumbest thing a greedy leader could ever do is stop the people talking freely. That kind of policy is literally eating their own, and everyone else's lunch. #grownostr #free-speech #nostr
Chickens lay eggs and we eat them. Most days my chickens get their eggshells back from me, to consume for the calcium. Occasionally a chicken will take to eating an egg,. Usually it starts with an egg that gets broken accidentally. If a rogue bird gets a taste for it you start to notice a decimated egg in the clutch of eggs in a nest box. if you don't get on top of it all sorts of nonsense can play out. Chickens get yolk on their beak, another chicken starts pecking at it. That can end in a bloodbath. Not to mention who wants to lose eggs? Growing up I was told by the old timers, an egg eater must be culled. Don't go that route. Get a fresh egg, bore a small hole in the shell and drain it empty. Fill it up with chilli, anything super hot. Leave it in the crime scene. Repeat the next day. I can promise the rogue chicken will not try eat more than two of them.Cured, Alive and laying like a champ. #chickens #grownostr #homesteading image
Good afternoon. As I grappled with the perfect colour scheme for a new website, what a tremendously useful convertor this proved to be in tandem with a digital colour meter. That plus and Ghost, it has been a very productive day. And a day closer to putting this bloody computer back where it belongs. I must say I find it quite amusing when I read posts about walking, like it's a new discovery. It's what we do, right? :) I get it, lifestyle is up the creak these days. Anyway, not too long before I go for a walk and drop off some neighbourly eggs.
Sods Law. I normally don't have much joy with growing onions because I'm stingy with water. They stay scallion size! This year I watered a bit more and lo and behold I have about 200 onions like this in various stages of growth around the place. No surprises there, they say. image But would you believe it, I seem to have developed some sort of intolerance for what has been a staple of my diet for decades. Giving them away now. Meanwhile back in the Spring I wanted to focus on peppers instead of tomatoes, they are much more nutritious. But despite going overboard planting dozens of different sorts of seeds, this year, what normally grows like a weed has faded away or finally started to kick off towards the end of the hot season. #Gardening is art not science haha #growstr #homesteading
Morning all. Out of curiosity I have scrolled down a YouTube feed of economic forecasting and commentary. I can see every reason to feel quite doomy, especially as the content sliwly meanders from econonics to pomutics to war and ... If you want to hurt somebody, words can be more violent than physical force. But if you see words as a bunch of letters arranged in a certain order, words can't hurt you. And if you know about Bitcoin and about the Nostr community, a YouTube doom scroll can't hurt you. Taking it further, if you try look past the words of someone trying to hurt you, or look behind the motives of a YouTube, you might see a weak, or scared messenger. And if you are drinking from a positive peaceful well, it is easy to simply shrug and smile and acknowledge you have heard their words, or taken time to look through the doom scroll, but it's not something you are going to worry about. You march to a different beat, have a good day.
Lashings of rain which is good, for second consecutive day. On the other side of the equation, not getting out much. We live outside except for the 60 days a year when there isn't sun here, so Im feeling a bit deskbound recently! My barebones solar installation is very fast at charging, but is struggling under the stress of coping with me being indoors. But at least there is still juice to type this and listen to a podcast. :) And just heard I'm an uncle again, yay.
