A friend of mine went to Italy and brought this very nicely packaged chocolate. Taste was also great! But it got me thinking. Uganda produces very good cocoa beans so why are we bringing chocolate from Europe? Basically, chocolate made in Uganda sells at the same price as the chocolate from Europe. I asked Claude to give the cost of producing this exact chocolate in Uganda. It returned around 1.25 USD! So basically, the local craft chocolate brands have margins of over 400%! Ridiculous how the local players don’t even want to compete!
