Modern society ignores some serious dangers that are going to kill a lot of people before they stop being ignored: * Carrington events * Climate change * Oil supply limits * Viruses+bacteria * Pesticides But there's 1 that's scarier than most: nuclear weapons. And there's 1 other, even more terrifying than that: prion diseases. Prions and nuclear weapons are so bad, they make me hope for a Carrington event. At least after a Carrington event, it's not too late for the survivors to start doing something about survival threats like prions. It doesn't go the other way around, you can't start doing something about Carrington events after getting hit by prions. I can't really handle thinking about this stuff alone. At least I'm less alone than I used to be. This stuff just shuts down a lot of my brain to divert all power to the shields to handle thinking about it, and it's still painful to think about.
